Maybe talking (typing about it) will help
Giving this a shot as I’ve got no where else to go. 6 weeks ago I was sexually assaulted. I’m a guy and he was a friend that I had recently met. He’s a lot bigger than I and needless to say I was overpowered. Needless to say I’ve got some PTSD from it. It pops up at random times and I have anxiety attacks. I just shutdown. My general anxiety has skyrocketed and I no longer have confidence at all. In anything. It’s boarderline ruining my life as I’ve just started grad school. Whenever I’m put in any sort of stressful situation, even if it’s not a big deal at all I seem to breakdown. This has never been a problem before in my life and I just don’t know what to do about it. I have no more self worth. I haven’t told anyone close to me about it. The main reason for that is that I just moved to a new city and therefore don’t really know anyone. I think it might help to talk to someone but I have no one to go to. I guess that’s why I’m here.
I’ve thought about talking to one of my professors that I’m closer with but school policy dictates that they then have to report it. I’m not sure why but I don’t want that to happen. I should want that to happen but for some reason I don’t. I feel like I could have done something differently. I just don’t know.

Sometimes, I think I have ODD. I can be oppositional. It seems that the only times that I feel like cleaning are when I should be doing something else or I have to go somewhere. Well, not everytime but most of the time. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing online training for work but instead, I decided to work on my kitchen table. Most of the time, I don't know where to start and give...

I have a possible new diagnosis to discuss with my therapist tomorrow. It might be the answer to a question that I have had since I was 19. It's called Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD). It happens to a large percentage of people with ADHD, which I have. Actually, I have been watching videos about ADD/ADHD lately. I remember my Mom telling me that she watched a show on ADD and she...
Typically what'll happen is your teacher will ask what happened and you don't need to go into detail if you don't want to. They will then bring you to the main office and have you do another detailed description of what happened. I know you don't want to do it but it'll help you and other victims later on. Again I'm so sorry for what happened. If you wanna just chat hit me up. Hugs.

Please look at this website which is for men who have suffered sexual abuse. It is called 1in6.org and they have great resources on there, as well as a hotline and chatline.
This was not your fault, you are not less worthy and it does not make you less of a person. You did not need to do anything differently, that person made the choice to injure and violate you. As a good friend here has recently written in another post " its not your shame to bear"
I understand you not wanting to report it. Maybe when you are stronger you will change your mind. Reporting it might make you stronger and give you back your power and control. Only my thoughts on it. There is a lot of support here, keep talking and getting it out.
Another thought I had... you can tell your professor you are depressed - truth. Ask for a referral to a therapist, not a school counselor if its a resource available to you. They cannot report it unless you tell them you want it reported. Patient privacy
grad school can be so tough. i wish you could confide in the one professor, but i also understand how difficult reporting can be.
having space to talk is important. you have my support. i'm grateful to know about the website dw shared. gentle hugs
So don't worry so much about the other person, think just about yourself and getting trauma treatment from a professional asap. You'll be glad you did in years to come. So sorry this happened to you. I do know how that feels, you're not alone. Much support to you.
Have you tried looking for a rape counselor? In the cities you can often find them in police and emergency room networks. Just wondering. . .
Gentle support while you find what works for you. We are here for you. You are not alone. It is not your fault.
