I had my knee replacement surgery at the end of September. It was my sixth knee surgery. I had to have hardware removed in order to have the knee replaced. My surgeon said because of the number of modifications done through multiple surgeries that my healing time might take longer. But to help me recover faster, I now have to use a splint that forces my knee straighten to negative degrees and to force the bend. I have to do this 3 hours per day. I am basically locked down and cannot move, not to mention the pain of keeping a healing joint in place for long lengths of time and forcing it into place. Between the pain in my back from arthritis, ruptured discs and nerve damage; pain in my knee and not being able to sleep well because of anxiety and nightmares, I am so tired and starting to feel weak. Not to mention that I am also teaching my rehabilitative Tai Chi Class. I have 3 months to go with this splint. I guess I just need a little support right now. I am hoping that I will be able to get back to my walks again. This is making the holidays difficult. It's hard to spend a lot of time standing and cooking. As much as I love cooking for my small family, I feel guilty, but think for Christmas they are going to get a package meal from honey baked ham because I am not sure I can prepare everything from scratch. I did for Thanksgiving and the standing was excruciating.
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. Wishing you all Happy Holidays.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Even without the Corona weirds, my holiday season is radically different this year from any other year of my long life. We are making it up as we go and saving judgement for after all is said and done. Small steps, big faith and lots of prayer.
Covid, the isolation is a big stressor my therapist said
He sees the explosion of ptsd clients during the last nine months
The mind works overtime when the body has a crisis
It is a hard time for many
In my life I have not seen such suffering and divisiveness in our country
Hope you find some peace as you heal
Leo, I didn’t think they could replace my knee because I had my tibia bone modified and I had hardware in my tibia from that surgery., but they managed to replace it. I think that all the scar tissue has kept me from being able to gain the bend that I need. This splint is better then having another procedure. Hopefully it works.
Thanks again everyone.
