Found a Mexican face to face support group! Yay!

It's late, 10:35pm, but I just got in from my first face to face support group meeting here where I just retired in Mexico, and it was wonderful to find a new home among more supportive folks like us down here.  It was a speaker meeting, and after the meeting was over I had to explain to both speakers why I laughed at times toward their presentation.  I wasn't laughing at them, I was laughing at myself.  It struck me funny that I could ever have doubted I'd fit in.  It turns out trauma and recovery are pretty universal, people are people everywhere, and they were just like us here, only in Spanish.  It was awesome.  I'm so grateful! :-)

My own experience with support groups in South America and Mexico is that the comparative newness of the concept among Spanish speakers made for a far more enthusiastic and devoted membership.

Happy for you. Had a very trying day here in NM. Had to make many changes. Very tired. Very stressed. Fearful for the future but moving forward.

My 2nd meeting went really well. They called on me to share last night, and so I shared about this week's PTSD symptom of insomnia I've had. Guess what? Just like when I share here at DS PTSD, it helped me with my symptom. Last night after sharing there I got my first good night's sleep all week without DS PTSD insomnia. Wow, support groups of both kinds--online and face to face--really work for me. -)

Thank you. It is medical info. I have been tearful grieving. My partner/ husband said I am tired of the crying. Really not ok with what I learned. So he is going to get what he asked for.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
