I keep hearing "if you forgive it will set you free"...it hasn't worked for me yet. So, now I'm wondering did I not forgive completely? Then it brings up the question, "how do you fully forgive your rapist?" There are times when this question pops into my mind that I think, am I going backward in my healing process? So, I tend to tell myself that I'm healing from a different angle so the forgiveness needs to come from a different angle as well. When I'm all done with the healing process I'm expecting to have forgiven my rapists for many reasons...at least I hope I'm able to fully and wholly forgive them once and for all.
Sending gentle hugs and peace to all who need it today!

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery...

He was asked about the forgiveness question and said those that don't ask forgiveness , are not owed it, and then even if they do, they are not owed it. The most damaging thing is how we as the abused take on blame, take on shame, onto ourselves, need only to forgive ourselves for that taking the blame on us, that was not our fault.
In my life if a list long, only one asked forgiveness, I told him I would when it no longer hurt.
but foregiveness isnt for them. its for you. thats what some say but is foregiveness required? isnt it just a word? what exactly is foregiveness to you?
Thank you for that link to the article about forgiveness. I am going to keep and use that article. Marie, I agree with many others that forgiveness should not be made necessary in order to grow and heal. It often creates more of a burden on those who have suffered a wrong when they experience guilt or anxiety about the forgiveness that the world often seems to tell them is necessary.
I'm still working on forgiving the person for their actions.... But I know my body will not forget what happened to it. I also know that both forgiving and the journey of healing is not overnight... it involves a lot of one step forward 2 steps back, on a rocky road with lots of ups and downs type of things.
But I always like to say to myself and I'll say the same to you: "Give yourself some grace." One step at a time, one day at a time. Hang in there. Also remember what works for one person doesn't always work for everyone (it's not a one size fits all). (((Hugs))) and God bless.
