I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes.
Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!

Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:
ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery since arsenic is a heavy metal and is poisonous AF over time.
Mercury. Yes, people downed it on purpose. It helped relieve constipation while destroying your DNA!
Radium. For a couple decades, opposed to centuries as above, radium was found in any form you can imagine. Chewing gum! Tonics! Skin care! "GLOW!" indeed. Then everyone started dying and figured it out.
Antimony. This is an element most forget, but it was very popular for a few centuries for darnd near anything. A metal, antimony was the EVERLASTING PILL. You'd swallow it, get a "benefit" (never proven) and retrieve the pill virtually intact from your chamber pot. Not joking. They did this. One antimony compound was used to help against fevers, alcoholism, and rashes. As you can guess, it failed.
Yogurt. When Dr. Kellogg wasn't inventing bland breakfast cereals, he was doing crazy things to people for their wellness a hundred plus years ago. Among these things? Yogur enemas. He had the right idea: Yogurt can balance your GI tract. But he defibnitely had the wrong end. He also prescribed cold baths. However, he did prescribe exercise and fresh air, so y'know. Um. And corn flakes?
Leeches. While leeches are great on brusies because they remove blood and prevent it from collecting, in gen3ral, being "leeched" meant having a hugely unsanitary knife cut you at the elbow (why we still use that vein to this day I don't know, maybe so no idiot can miss it?) to "balance your humors". Onec the infection sset in, of course, your humors were over for good, and your family paid for a headstone.
Bee venom. It's still promoted as shrinking breast cancer tumors 100%!!! Thing iws, do you want that much bee venom? B/c I have news for you: You'll have to deal with the effect of a sh*t-ton of bee venom. And almost surely end up allergic. A substance in bee venom does have some promise but is still in the computer model and maybe try-it-on-mice stages.

And on that note, I'm off to take a horse pill of an antibiotic that makes me feel worse than the disease. *sigh* But it works. Annd I can't get around it. So here I am. UGH.

Leo, sorry to hear that you're having to take doxycycline. Yeah, antibiotics have a way of shredding a person from the inside out. And then it takes years to rebuild my GI tract. Often, I'd rather suffer through the illness than have my life turned upside down by the cure. Can they give you a milder antibiotic? Your in laws are something else. I would not cook / bake for them.
Miki, thank you so much for last weekend's advice and support RE the twins. Hubby's job has forced him to work in person,, no tele-work, parental leave, or FMLA, leaving me home alone with the twins. Yeah, the couple from church asked if they could come over, but I thought it was to help. And my mom did text me as well.... but not to ask, rather, she TOLD me she was coming over. She was offended enough by my request to limit her visits that she hasn't been back. The saying, "Don't wear out your welcome," is pretty good advice to adopt into one's life... something my mom has no clue about.
Also, I am really sorry you got beat up by that dog. Ouch. I hope you're feeling better.
The twins have had a lot of visitors....our house has become a busy highway since their arrival. Most of them being people with good intentions, like to help out or to donate baby stuff to us (babies are so EXPENSIVE!! Omg), some even bring me food or a gift card to a food place. I am surprised by how many people out there are good natured and just want to help.
The twins had their 30 day check up on Monday, it lasted a full 4 hrs and we z d the babies were exhausted and starving (and the babies ran out of diapers). Baby Boy may have a hernia in his groin area. Hubby will take him to an ultrasound Monday morning to find out. A surgery consultation is already scheduled as well just in case the boy needs it. Otherwise, they have gained nearly 2 lbs each since discharge from NICU, so they are growing and thriving.
It's been another rough week. We had a couple good days and some really bad days with crying and fussing all day and through the night. My husband had a great idea Thursday when he got home from work and volunteered to watch the babies while I take myself to the pool. I have been living every minute of my life in that nursery for 3 weeks and I was starting to get cabin fever. Taking a break from the twins and going to the pool was exactly what I needed...and I think we should make that happen at least once a week preferably twice.
I can't wait till these babies are adopted and I can then quit the foster system. The constant stream of paperwork they give us and appointments we are required to take the babies to are a full time job.

Also yesterday was My fiances last day at his job, he's a meat cutter, the store is being closed for good .they refuse to sell it they have had offers, they want the tax write off. He gets 6 weeks severance pay. He found out less than 2 weeks ago about them closing too. He has an interview somewhere else on Monday. Could use all prayers and good thoughts. this is bad timing, our wedding is this fall
Gearing up for a busy month including some sleep overs at a clients home. I normally won't do that but I've managed this cat for four years. They are going on an extended trip so I said that I would do it. I'm kind of looking forward to controlling the TV remote. And, having some peace and quiet.
Leo - I am sorry. I know only too well exactly what you are talking about. I was on Vancomycin and it was terrible. I wish that you weren't dealing with this.
Blue - You have a very busy life right now. The twins are keeping you hopping. Thank you for the shout out.
AngelaJo - I'm really sorry that you damaged your shoulder and knee too. I'm not a fan of Lidocaine patches. They usually don't help with pain in my experience. The lidocaine doesn't go in far enough to reach the problem. I hope that's not the case with you. You may not be able to use this but the Flector Pain Patch (Prescription) is used for localized pain - NON narcotic. It only works where it is applied. It might conflict with your current regimen but I'd definitely ask about it when you see the Ortho.

Fantod, ty, and thanks for updating when I cant get on! I didn't think the lidocaine patch was helping until I had to take it off. They are 12 hours on then 12 hours off. WIthin half hour to 45 mins of it being off pain icreased going down from the shoulder to my arm and into my hand. These are prescription patches but not sure about the flector ones? I see my Pain Mangement on Tuesday but they want me contacting him first thing Monday, the Urgent care doctor didn't like NOT giving me pain meds at least for the first week but for one I am working with a pain Doctor, and two shes not sure if the low dose naltrexone would make me sick with opiates like the normal 1gram dose they use for addiction does. Shes never dealt with the low dose naltrexone. The ER all they did that helped me was put me on 1500 mg of robaxin every 6 hours as needed but only 30 pills. It does help more than zanaflex was since I am used to my zananflex (I am on 8mg because I been on it so long and only one that works besides robaxin) I was only on this high a dose for robaxin once before and it would knock me out, this time I'm not even tired on it. I was up all night last night, tonight its almost 2am and I'm still up but I did take a nap for 2 or so hours earlier today maybe even 3 hours?
Praying Matt gets the job he has an interview for on Monday. He gets 6 weeks of severance pay, which starts Monday, I like having him home, especially because I am not doing well at getting around, but we need the money coming in especially with our wedding in around 2 months. (we don't want the actual date put out where a certain family member we are all no contact with to see)
Matt was helping me get in bed and both knees are all swollen and bruised up and he noticed I have a dinner plate sized bruise that's growing still above the knee off to the inside of my leg on my right leg. Ugh........ If the dogs or cat go on me every light step makes me want to scream or cry in pain. The only thing I didn't hit was my head! I have to call the dentist Monday, and pay ou tof pocket to get another tooth pulled that can not wait until Janurary when I have oral surgery. It has had an abscess several times and today woke up in severe pain. Anbesol is not helping more than 5 to 10 minutes and not much even then. Its infected again. Hopefully since I am now established with this dentist it wont take 2 months to get in, but my PCP also has told me if I get a dental infection, since the dentist is out of network and I had to pay out of pocket for the antibiotics last time, if the dentist says what one would be good to go on, she will fill it instead of the dentist she just wnats to know what to prescribe. I have so many allergies but I know all my allergies.
I just feel like life right now is all physical pain. Monday I had woken up with no fibro pain at all, had 2 good days then Wednesday go thru my porch. The Urgent care Dr said that the security camera video is something to hold on to becuase it shows how bad I got banged up especially my shoulder, smacked it hard on 3 different times going down on 3 different hard surfaces and the way my arm went back there is no way I did not tear my rotator cuff. She just hopes I don't need surgery. Especially being on warfarin. Ya the ER wanted to give me Motrin 800mg......... WIth me ON WARFARIN!!!!!! When they nurse handed me the script, (and I had told the Dr I can only take Tylenol otc due to my warfarin I can not have Motrin or Advil or Aleve so we had talked about it) for Motrin 800mg, I told her I cant take that I am on warfarin. I cant have nsaids. She said, oh is warfarin a blood thinner or something? SHES AN ER NURSE!!!!!???????? That's twice our ER had tried to give me nsaids. But the first time it was accidental. The Dr that time had put in toradol then cancelled it but the nurse had come in before seeing it was cancelled said what was ordered and shed be in when it came up, the Dr did a shot of Dilaudid that day instead but now on naltrexone they cant just do that. The ER Dr also treated me like my pain was not bad and only checked one knee and my back even though I had an open cut that was mildly bleeding, noone ever looked a t it? THe Urgent care was not happy about that when I went thru (different hospital system) We had done ER instead of urgent care first thinking I'd get more thourough care, NOPE! And normally our ER is very good. But Motrin 800mg? One dose could make me internally bleed or even kill me it would make my blood clot so much slower than we already have it at! I was toldto always go to the ER if i fall due to warfarin, I think next time it will be Urgent care...... They did more than the ER. And I was only in the waiting room 2 minutes. we were in and out in an hour, the ER was 4 plus hours.
