I'm about to head out the door to the first of four doctor's appointments I'll be having in the next 3 weeks. They involved poking at both mind and body as they involve a p-doc visit as well as kidney doc visits for my chronic kidney disease, a diabetes doc visit, and--new one--a visit to see if I qualify for weight reduction surgery.
I'm not having any of these appointments due to being in crisis, thankfully. However, it's a lot of poking and probing for me to handle with my PTSD social anxiety. I'm wearing my coat and tie to today's appointment at the big university hospital doc I'm driving to see an hour away. It seems to get me a little more respect when dealing with those harried intake staff, when haggling about insurance co-pays, and taking my place with as much dignity as possible in those suspenseful waiting rooms.
Wish me luck. I may come back to get a second helping of support again between this doc appointment and the last of this string of doc appointments October 7th.

I ALWAYS carry a "Busy Bag" when I approach anything that has a waiting room attached. I load my busy bag with therapy materials and things to occupy my own time, plus a few share items, like a deck of cards and story dice.
I too have kidney disease, and seek support. Have stage 3 in right kidney and radical nephrectomy due to cancer in my left kidney. I've requested your friendship, and hope we will have a long and positive support online through DS. Take care, ML
You take care, too, my friend!
