Hello everyone.
I am and have been particularly vulnerable these last couple of weeks. Since the aftermath of the court date, it has created a huge strain between my parent and I. Not only has this become eminent, but it has created such an emotional toll on all of us. I should not be surprised because it's right in front of me everyday, but I am quite flat and just downright angry.
Coming back to school has become a positive distraction for me, but I have the notion that nothing is really sticking to me. All of this reading has my brain all over the place. I am not afraid that I won't pass because I will, but that this final year of college I will be running on low.
This year will become my 2nd yr with PTSD and it doesn't seem to get any easier. I have a long way to go in my recovery, but it still feels like an open wound. It's all fresh and alive. It's a nightmare that I am constantly reliving in my head and the days that have come and gone have felt like a blur. I am at a point of self-distortion and it's a drag. By drag, I mean a physical and psychological toll of exhaustion.
My symptoms are like the rise of the tides in the ocean, but I am not dependent on my emotions nor my traumas. I am dependent on the words of promises from God.
To say the least, I am not missing anything. Just my physical and mental strength... does that make sense? ? ?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

Today my psychiatrist asked me how I'm sleeping. I admitted, I can sleep 12 hours and still wake tired. He replied, "You're processing a lot. It puts your mind and your body through incredible stress. It's normal to be that tired. I'm thrilled you're sleeping!"
So don't worry, I guess is my summary. PTSD, fatigue, and that scatter-brained feel seem to be "normal" for the situation.
Good for you for sticking to school, and I am in year one of my PTSD so I dunno when it gets better, but I'm told it does, and I am taking that on faith. So far, so good....

Sorry for the strain between you and your parent. Glad there's college, even if it's not all sticking. It's forward progress you'll be glad for later.
Hugs from us all.
But I am nitpicking again.
You have been through allot and have allot on your plate dealing with the PTSD while staying afloat in school. It is fully understandable that you are feeling whelmed. It is no surprise that you are exhausted, both mentally and physically. Are there psychiatric services available at your college?
I may be the one who is not making sense here. I am not hitting on all cylinders myself these days.
Mostly wanting to offer encouragement and empathy...
