Hello, all DS members and those of the PTSD group.
It's been one heck of a year for me, and for a lot of you as well. This year has been a year surprises, rollercoasters, and non-stop movements. By far, I can say that it's been a very comforting, heart-aching year. There are no exact words to sum up what has been and what is now, but I've been wanting to say how comforting commonality has been in the DS group.
This month, in particular, is a very crucial time as the anniversary of my last incident is around the corner. Grief, mourning, and overwhelming sadness becomes me this month. I anticipate that this month will be very heavy in spirit as the meaning of family is lost and grief for the loss of familial relationships come to the surface. I have found solace in this place, as well as my Auxiliary Police members. It's more than a gift; it's a blessing in disguise. God has been graceful enough to show me how validating our personal traumas and losses can be when we can find the sources that help us move forward, always remembering but never forgetting where our roots come from.
I don't know the plans for Christmas nor New Years day, but I know that it will be reminiscent and a time of reflection. I anticipate the long road ahead for us, but also setbacks and reminders that will remind us what needs attention and time to recover and heal. I am at a loss for words for the present moment, but I just wanted to spread a word of gratitude and a help in hand.
Please, I ask for your prayers and words of strength and wisdom (some humor as well). Keep fighting the good fight of faith; having the help in hand of God and humbleness to support one another.

The story of the song wound through the post-Katrina devastation, through war, famine and child abuse, asking the eternal question of how a benevolent God could permit such evil. The answering refrain was,"However else would you have let me in?"
And that is true of all the co-healers I have loved on my recovery road. People I would never have met without the harsh trials of my PTSD. Like the good people here in this forum. Still I cannot be glad for the PTSD, buttttttaaaaa... However else would I have let you in?
Glad I did let you in.
FCB, Your "Auxiliary Police members" are a new and wonderful source of support. Many I'm sure first responders as it goes. I watched as you were taking your classes and training, now in the doing of helping others. That is definitely a star on your tree for this year for you...and a beacon of hope for us .
Doing something beyond your fears and succeeding. Congrats
You're good people, findingkat. Bless you.
