I'm posting this in anxiety as well.
I looked at my schedule for tomorrow and saw that I need to get my cat to the vet tomorrow. Poor thing freaks out when she has to go. She wets herself, pants and passes out. And I just thought - this is not okay. So I called the vet and said, "If you do house calls, I'll stay with you. If not, no hard feelings, but I'm finding another vet."
Then the most extraordinary thing happened. The receptionist said, "We generally don't do house calls unless it's REALLY necessary." I was about to say never mind, but I explained how stressed she gets and they said, "Well, I would say that's absolutely medically necessary."
It made me wonder why I am trying to force myself to go through with an MRI. The doctor has said it is important and necessary, but if I can't do it, I can't do it.
PTSD is no less medically relevant than any physical disability.
This is teaching me to ask for what I need and it's a powerful lesson.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Hope your cat's better soon. I had a great cat buddy for 14 years and loved every day of it.
And, while in the past our choices were taken from us, now we get to decide rather than just do our best to endure it.
I'd do the same with you and your MRI. You don't want to deny yourself medical care. What do you need to get through it- a one time pill? A sedative shot? If the doctor thinks you need the test, it's not acceptable that they are so dismissive about your anxiety. He/She should take lessons from your vet!
Hugs.
You are right, we do need to ask for what we need in live, relationships, when talking with our doctors, parents etc. I am bad at this for some reason I think I am bothering people or being selfish. Maybe it is just because when I ask for what I need, I don't get it often. For example I begged my HR department to move me to another department when I got sick. They told me they had nothing for me in the company. I really needed out for a bit, I could not deal with the battle damaged vehicles anymore. I needed a break, at least a temp break. That is one of the few times I asked for what I needed. It was humiliating to beg for a move and be shoot down like that.
I have to go to my doctor's this week, maybe I should start there and ask for what I need.
thanks for sharing. I think this post has given me some courage.
Ya gots to come from the heart if you want it to work.
