My wife shouted this morning in the middle of a sentence she was saying, as a bunch of lids fell over.
I told her she had just shouted at me.
She refuses to accept that she shouted at me, as to her this implies intent.
Regardless of what she intended, I was frightened angry and tense because she shouted and she appeared to be shouting at me
Admittedly, talking to her is not necessarily a good move in the morning. The thing is though, she shouts around me a LOT. It is such a potent trigger that I have told her to record herself shouting for a few minutes so I could use it as desensitization therapy...and this has not happened yet.
She says this morning that she did not shout at me.
From my perspective, she did, because in the middle of a sentence to me, she shouted.
I just want her to stop fricking shouting, because when she does I want to get away from her. Two weekends ago she screamed because she stepped on the cat, then blocked my way inadvertently as I was trying to flee the house in terror, and I...sort of collapsed in the hallway, too terrified to move.
I'm pretty sure she's an Asperger's person, BTW, so she gets overloaded often...and while I know she does not mean to turn me into a quivering wreck, she nonetheless succeeds regularly.
I want her to stop shouting, period, not bellow like a wounded ox when she's startled or upset.
Am I asking for a reasonable thing?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

If you're in therapy I say take her with you one time and get this all out in the open where the therapist can guide the situation and your wife can get advise from a pro. It helped my husband alot.
Sometimes we just need to build our own tolerance.
