Lately I have looked by at a handful of so called specialists and their words. I once was thought of having multiple or splintered personality disorder. Partly because I was putting my anger and darker thoughts into a box not wanting to deal with them. So the box was too full. To deal with them I chose a different me and named him Tober. (Short for October the month where everything dies and hell rises. Luckily Tober died a long time ago. But without him I feel I cut almost all feeling off. Hope this makes sense to someone barely makes sense to me.

Still, the concept appeals. My pseudonyms really do free the flow. I don't think it is even possible to count how many pseudonyms I have used. When I study ignorance, the ignored detail stays ignored.
I suppose the issue then is integration/disintegration of the self, functionality/dysfunction, and so on. But having different skills sets in different parts of the self might not necessarily be bad in and of itself.
In my own case, I'm fully bilingual/bicultural. I was raised by US parents on the mission field in South America and as a small child went completely native and still am. There's no separating the two, but I do find a difference in my own voice when I speak English and when I speak Spanish. So I live in the US and teach college Spanish halftime and Philosophy half time (including religion classes and classes that touch on PTSD). So my two voices are used daily. It's a wonderful situation for me NOT to have to choose one over the other.
That, I guess, is speaking of how such a thing could work for somebody. I imagine there are many ways it might not, too, so I'm not to judge.
I imagine also that others will have more to share on this, sean. Thanks for bringing it up.
If you need Tober make sure you give him space to feel... And try and find a safe way to let out the anger... Talk therapy or a punching bag... Whatever works... It is so important to allow your feelings to happen and accept them... Come here and get validation for them... And move through them... We are here and we will listen and support you..!!!
