I'm new here so hope it's ok to start a thread like this. Anyway - what pets does everyone have?
I have
1 x dogue de bordeaux - Lennox
2 x cavalier king charles spaniels (the old fashioned, large size, almost as big as a cocker spaniel - Barney and Charlie
2 x boxers - Hilda and Bogart
8 x rabbits - Tia, fudge, ebony, jim-bob, rex, rosie, ruby, heartly
7 x guinea pigs - Milo, thor, rhubarb, crumble, custard, pumpkin and pickles
6 x cats - Ozzie, Max, Molly, Jasper, Candy and Trudy
5 x rats - Bubble, Squeak, summer, suzie and splodge
2 x syrian hamsters - Honey and Chives
and an infestation of dwarf hamsters after taking in 8 rescues and ending up with 4 litters of 5,6,6 and 9!
All of these are rescue animals apart from 2 of the cats and Barney, my CKC spaniel!
Has anybody else got a menagerie? I'd love to have a horse, but unfortunatley can't afford one and would have nowhere to keep one, but who knows, maybe in the future!
Let's see; 20 cats(all neutered or spayed except for the kitten, and he is in line), 5 dogs(again, all altered), 16 zebra finches, 6 cutthroat finches, 4 society finches, 4 canaries, 25 geese, 8 ducks(until hatching time next Spring, I hope!), 15 chickens, 8 ringneck doves, and 12 diamond doves. Oh, and 2 parrotlets, and 6 button quail. And 10 horses.
wow lynne, That sounds fantastic! Glad to know there are other people with so many animals! Forgot to mention that all our animals are nuetered/castrated apart from the hamsters obviously, but all of them live in single sex groups anyway. Do all your cats live inside or have you got some ferals/outdoor cats?
That is so nice rachasq that you take care of all those animals! They all sound great. Between your list of animals and LynneC lists of animals it could almost be made into that one Christmas song -days of Christmas...Lol...
I have two guinea pigs, both males, Rocky and Bugsy
Four cats, all fixed, three males and one female, Tigger, Sammi, Tyler, and Pickles. That is it for me.
Ok, lets add to the song...
1 x Malamute x Staffy (male) Lucatoni
1 x Chihuahua x Jack Russell (male) Topo (mouse in Italian)
1 x Long Haired Silver Tabby (male) Tigre (tiger in Italian)
1 x Tortoishell Short Hair (female) Sarah Evil-Puss
1 x White Fantail (female) Bianca (white in Italian)
2 x Budgies (females) Pentium and Echo
2 x Goldfish (in pond)
12+ Koi Carp (large assorted in giant pond)
Plus numerous bob-tails (large native lizards), possums, various native creatures, including bilbies and others...We live on 1/2 an acre of fenced, hillside in the Darling Ranges of Western Australia. All our pets are neutered where appropriate and have access to the house as well as human company for most of the day....I would have more, but at the moment these characters keep me pretty busy!
Thanks trishbug - Is that a photo of your cat besides your name? If so he/she looks a real cutie! To be honest it's my animals that have kept me going all this time - they give you unconditional love and love you for who you are, not what you wear, what you look like etc. They are so selfless and make you feel wanted. I'd always put my animals first as they have helped me so much throughout my life and I just love them all to bits.
earthwalker - wow, your menagerie sounds fantastic too, unfortunatley our wildlife in the UK isn't nearly as exciting as yours but it's still beautiful to see.
My cats are about half and half; some are barn cats, and some are house cats. But my barn cats get treated better than a lot of house cats! Same foods, care, etc, just a different location. And my barn is far enough from the road that I don;t have to worry a lot about a cat going that far away.
One perfect little german shepered, a yard full of birds that he likes to chase. Yes he actually thinks he can catch them. Rocky the squirell and Peter rabbit also live in my back yard.
I've got Toofy, one lhasa apso/terrier mix. He's the light of my life.
3 of my own cats, Mr. Kitty, Cami, and Sissy, all grey or brown tabbies with white chins. Not related to each other.
2 6 month old foster cats, orange tabby Pumpkin and medium haired grey tabby, Tyson. Tyson was completely feral when I got him at 10 weeks old. He's tame and cuddly now.
1 dilute torti one year old foster cat, who is FIV positive. She lives in her own separate space.
Wow. You all put me to shame. I only have 1 spayed cat, 2 male chinchillas and one more spayed cat coming when my daughter goes to college (her Dad won't keep her cat after she leaves...isn't that nice of him) I am volunteering at the Humane Society in the cattery too.
