Anyone else struggle with stress eating? I have been working a lot lately and trying to balance this with grad school and having a life. It has become super stressful and my fall back during this time is to just reward myself with food for getting through the stress. Any tips on how to stop this vicious cycle of eating when stressed and then being stressed because I'm eating unhealthy?

Can you try rewarding yourself with something non food related instead? Something small like a new nail polish or lipstick or whatever you are into. Maybe every time you feel you need a reward put a $1 bill in a jar or the amount you would have spent on bad food and then when you get to say $30 buy yourself something nice... like clothes in a smaller size!!!!

I also tend to stress eat, especially while studying or doing school work. Gum helps my mouth have something to do, but isn't a complete solution. I try to have healthy things to snack on, as well, but the more stressed I am, the more I want chips and chocolate.

I am a food addict and will eat for any reason, including binges. I cannot live without my junk food. I went to buying Pringles in a can, and I only take one at a time and if I want another one I have to get up and go into the kitchen to get it. I hope that works......

I never use to stress eat till I had kids. And now it's bad. When majorly stressed I find myself in I don't care mode. What helps me though if you feel need to eat is come up with some healthy treats. Online you will find many recipes to help just when you have time write some down. I make alot of sweet treats with fruit as those are better than just junk or instead of chips I may make pita chips. I am not sure what you weakness is. Mine is snacks and sweet snacks. My meals are pretty healthy it's the snacks.

Moderate-intense aerobic exercise helps me when I am stressed out. Sweating releases toxins and can help to relieve mild anxiety.

thanks for the ideas, they are great!! I think will try the exercise and the dollar bill when I want to buy junk :) I think the dollar bill will be definitely motivating especially if i can get in the habit of saying "put the dollar in and think about the money you are saving "to myself when I want junk :)

Oh! sistah girl. I feel your pain. I don't have a life either. I find that the more stressed that i am the more sugar i inhale. I understand your where you are coming from. It is difficult to find something that fits in your life. Exercising will be stress reducer and a dopamine, norepinephrine release, but does not taste good. :).

I was also thinking. Maybe if you only have healthier foods around to munch on you would be less inclined to reach for food a consoler. When i have healthier food in the house, I eat less....

Ravenstar has hit the nail right on the head "try rewarding yourself with something non food related instead". I think I will have to think about it, too because I myself tend to stress eat as well.

I was also thinking about keeping more healthy food in the house, Jus2know1. Has anyone tried a healthy snack food drawer? Like bagging up portioned out veggies and such to keep in the fridge to grab when you are munchy or on the go? I was thinking about trying this but not sure how effective it would be? Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
