Hello. I am new to the group. I was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri two years ago and my doctors have been on me to lose weight but I have been struggling with this. Recently, I am back to being symptomatic again because I have gained some weight. My doctor said if I don't lose weight I will possibly lose even more of my vision. I am 27 years old, female and five feet tall, 176 pounds. My neuro-ophthalmalogist referred me to a medical weight control center at a local hospital. It uses meal replacements, mostly shakes and the average weight loss is 47 pounds in 20 weeks. My primary doctor said this program is good because it involves not just meal replacement but group therapy, dieticians, exercise physiologists and of course doctors who specialize in weight loss. I know it sounds stupid but I am afraid. Has anyone tried this diet? I am afraid that I am going to be hungry all the time and miserable but I am also afraid that I will lose my vision if I don't do this. You would think that vision loss would be an incentive but I have been facing this for two years and have had little success.I never thought I would suffer from an obesity related illness nor have to go to a weight control clinic because I have no self control. Thank you a lot for reading, any feed back is appreciated.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

I think that while you are there it sounds like you will be too busy to be hungry. The toughest time is when you have left and come back to your life, regular food and the old triggers and stresses. But I guess the people there will teach you strategies and provide ongoing care.
Medicaid pay up to 100%.
I would not want to spend the rest of my life on such a diet program. I enjoy taste of good foods. my problem was I gave up on my business/life/my appearance. ya once I step on the top of slope the wind was at my back and gravity snowed balled me too.
This year I have been struggle w a binge, that I'm starting to get loose from.
I think that my binge was due to non reg. stress.
Again, I love myself and best investment that I will ever have is investment in my health. my health, before snow ball, was n now is my top prority.
Will I suggest that u tiptoe to another Dr. offc.
I agree with Lizzie, those places usually have a free consultation. Go check it out before dismissing it. Get all your questions answered. I think you need to do something drastic and fast so you don't lose your eyesight. This might be the best approach.
May your wk end be as you wish.

If you need to lose weight immediately it's probably not a bad idea, but be advised that you need to have strategies for when the diet is "over"... because it's never really over. Good luck.
