Anyway, the real reason I pulled up this post is to bump it up for our newbies - it contains lots of good suggestions and well worth a reread for the 'oldies' (hmm, that doesn't work so well, we could do with something not so emotive...possibly 'veterans'?!!)

...because it's got so much good information about individual muscles and referral patterns (although it's worth noting that Devin Starlynal has stopped putting a 'dot' for the trigger point, saying (something like) we should feel across the whole muscle because the trigger point(s) can be anywhere and everywhere in the muscle.
