I was once in your shoes, about a month ago. But my surgeon were really nice and convincing and actually went for the thymectomy.

This is my 3rd week, although my breast bone hurts like hell.... Im glad I got done with it.

Take courage, it shall be well. You will out of hospital in 7days tops

I just finished the 2nd day of IVIG and today I'm feeling h exhausted. Otherwise ok. I did wake up with headache last night and took tylenol twice during the night, but was ok this morning.

I've had IVIGs every month for several years with only minor problems. Everyone is different but a cold should be no problem.

Hi, I am currently taking IVIG since April 2017. I found that its not that bad. I started my first week with fours of treatment, it took about 3-4 hrs which was a slow trip. The first day I broke out in hives and was given additional benadryl which I took every six hours after treatment. The hives eventually went away. I missed May treatment due to HBP. In the month of June, July and Aug treatment I had muscle soreness a headache & vomiting, I think the infusion nurse sped up my drip I was out in 3 hrs. which normally took 3 1/2 to 4. Speeding up the drip can cause side effects. This month I have not felt any difference in my symptoms, hoping to feel better soon. If you experience a headache I was told to drink plenty water prior too, during and the day after treatments. I have been getting 2 consecutive treatments monthly since June. Normally the muscle pain in my back when I was walk to far or too long would go away at least for 3 weeks until my next treatment which are every 30 days. Good Luck, I think you will be fine !!!!

I am on day 4, but have had problems with the sticks. Tiny veins. 4,sticks yesterday and the one they put in yesterday hurts, so pin cushion I am again today. My arms are really weak, both of them.

Today is my last IVIG. It's been a very long week of being s human pin cushion. I hope it makes a difference.

Question: of those who had robotic surgery, what was your recup. Time. ??

Hi Nancy, I also had IVIG for 5 consecutive days for the first week in the month of April 2017, I have been receiving it twice a month for 2 consecutive days since May 2017. I was wondering if you have to continue to receive treatments because the IVIG wares off? I start to feel my symptoms come back in about 3 weeks, which is a week prior to my next treatment. I find my upper back pain goes away.
I am scheduled to have a robotic thymectomy on Dec 1. 2017. I will let you know how the surgery goes, I'm a little scared of the unknown, but I do not like my "New Normal." Take care of yourself!!!

I had robotic thymectomy 1 year ago . The recoup time was very easy, not much pain at all.
Symptoms gradually improved after worsening a bit for a few months. Now I’m only on azathioprine and doing well.

Make the choice of which surgery will be the most helpful in the long run for you, and the decision regarding what method becomes clearer. In my case, I had a sternotomy and thymectomy in May, 2017. I chose the more radical method since my surgeon said he would be more confident of getting all of the thymus out if he opened me up. He said that before the 8/16 NEJM study came out he may of recommended robotic, but now that there is better data saying a thymectomy can help he said we needed the best method chance of getting it all out. Note that I am a male in my late fifties, so my thymus was mixed in with fat tissue, etc. so that was part of the decision.

I currently get Ivig infusion every two weeks, I also take mestinon, Prednisone, and recently had a transsternal thymectomy done. Although the surgery was so stressful for me it triggered my symptoms and I had to be intubated for over 6 days in ICU. If you do decide to have a thymectomy please do your research very well on the surgeon on how many surgeries he has done in the past dealing with patients with MG also the best place to look is the new England journal about the surgeon as well. I am recently in the hospital getting ivig infusion due to excerabation the therapy it's that bad but I know we are all different. Just make sure the nurse doesn't administrator it so fast that way won't get a headache. Depending on where you are having it done rather at home or in a facility some will tell you to self medicate just in case. God bless you and stay blessed.
