Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...

This disease is a lot for anyone to handle, especially such a young person as yourself.
With proper treatment, it will get better, and eventually you will trust your body again.
You have been through a lot. Take your time, the friends that matter will still be there when you are ready for them.
Good Luck, and keep us posted :) Chris.
When I started getting better and could walk more, I did my walking at the clinic where i was treated. It happened that my wife was coming in 3 times a week for cancer treatment (she made it OK), and so I came along and walked around the corridors. It felt very safe as I was always near medical help.
My next walking was at the big shopping center (it was winter time in MN, so that was a good place to go). There were bench seats along the way. I pushed a shopping cart at first, but then just walked with a basket. Only down side was I kept finding things I could spend money on.

Eventually when you keep walking enough and you don't have problems, the fear goes away. I always carried my cell phone so I could call someone or 911 if I did have problems. Most of the time, all I had to do was sit for a while and things were OK.
Some of the fear can be faced rationally, by having a plan that you have made as to what you will do if you should have problems. Also tell your friends, although you think you will be OK, there is a possibility that you might have to rest once in a while. Most friends can understand that and adjust.
Good Luck. I remember how great it felt to be able to walk as far as I wanted to without getting out of breath as I got better. Life is too short for us to not occasionally try our limits, MG or not.

But it is also a matter of not letting MG define us. We need to be pushed out of our comfort zone at times or our world just gets smaller and smaller. Life is risks, and we need to be part of it.
God bless and hope you do well.
