Cold can make my mg flare up.

That said, I would ask your Neuro to check gm antibodies to see if you may have mmn. Multifocal motor neuropathy. Cold makes mmn act up. It's a diagnostic feature.

Hi there...I find hot or cold exasperates my MG.....Never had either make feel better for sure...So I agree i would check with neuro and could certainly be something else causing it...Alot of times though tests for MG will come out negative which is the problem for many so good luck and keep us posted......jacki

Thanks Carly, I will have to see if my doctor will test me for that. Most doctors seem to have given up on me :( jvobrien, that is good to hear that perhaps I am not alone in the extreme temperatures exacerbating my symptoms. My biggest problem right now seems to be that all doctors are giving up on me. I just wanna feel normal already :( I have another SFEMG booked for April, but I somehow doubt it will show anything, especially as it will be warming up then. More interestingly I recently had a sinus infection and was put on Clarithromycin and it made my symptoms worse. I later read that it can excerbate MG, so it certainly makes me wonder. I also have a reaction to Ciprofloxacin which makes it hard to breathe. Which is again a drug that shouldn't be used with MG. I am starting to think I will never get any answers, so just been trying to find a way to cope with it how it is as no one will help me....

If you haven't tried it, you might ask your doctor to let you try a little Mestinon (pyridostigmine). If it helps you within an hour, and goes away a few hours later, you are much more likely to have MG.

If it doesn't help, that doesn't rule MG, but makes it less likely. Mestinon is pretty much only helpful with folks with MG, and for us it can quite dramatic in effect. .

Yes, I did a trial of mestinon last year when I was having trouble breathing, it helped alot. However I have interstitial cystitis and the mestinon really hurts my bladder, so unfortunately for me it is not a solution :( I also tried a round of prednisone and found it very helpful. But despite all of my symptoms, even have a cogan twitch at times, and all of my weird reactions to meds, my doctor is still not convinced it is MG. So yeah, I am in no mans land...

I find that extreme cold as well as extreme hot exacerbates my condition. I also have many reactions to antibiotics if I get sick. I try to keep vitamin C, vitamin D and a supplement called wellness formula to keep myself healthy especially when everyone around me is not.
I hope you get some relief soon. It can be very discouraging just to get a diagnosis, mine took over a year and I coded in the er for them to find that. I wish you lots of luck and stay positive. It takes time.
Also have you considered seeking tx through a teaching hospital in your area. I had seen a neurologist for a year and everything they did came back negative but the hospital figured it out pretty quick.
