Hi Amy. I can't answer all your question but I can give you a 'general' answer on the disability one. I've helped several family members apply. In general it can take anywhere from 5 months (that is the shortest amount of time I have personally seen) to years and years. It depends on if you are approved the first time or have to appeal a decision multiple times.

It's me SharonMom---Debbie. The answer to your question is that Yes, the pill to help people who have Multiple Sclerosis who have walking difficulties has been approved. It is called Ampyra, and I have been taking one of those pills every 12 hours, since this past December. Unfortunately it does not get me out of having to have shots, as I still have to have a shot of Copaxone everyday, but it has helped me alot to stay on my feet with my 4-wheeled walker. they did approve the walking pill (cant think of its name) and it only helped a tiny bit, but some folks were willing to brave the side effects for any inch they could get.

I am forever hot for no reason! I wake in a full blown sweat at night and sometimes its like I become my own furnace during the day. hot hot hot! I dont do well in heat, I go blind! enough already!

I get hot very easily....and it very hard for me to walk on uneven places/I can not do

Hi I really don't know anything about "a pill" however the disability I do. I applied in April and was approved in Aug right at 120 days. Medicare requires a positive spinal tap. If you have had one I really believe that helps. Otherwise I personally seen it take people up to 6 yrs to get it. Each time you go to the Dr or hospital always get a copy of your records

Have'nt heard of the pill yet but will look it up. I hope they did not ask at interview about your walking as puts them on thin ice legally. As far as disability it took me 28 months but in MI that is standard to be denied. The state disabilty office makes that decision and they don't even see you in person, it's a political thing. I don't like the heat, but the wierd thing is when it is in the 70's I sweat like a pig, the 80-90's when I need to sweat don't happen but we are all different. Good luck on your disability and hope you got a lawyer, a lot of people say they got it quick but that depends on the state. My Lawyer said if I did'nt have a Illinose Judge never would have happend. You can google the not approved rate for your state and see if you need one.

There's several posts in here about Ampyra - I'm pretty sure that's the walking pill you're referring to. Just do a search for Ampyra up above on the thread.

I find that I used to get hot for no reason and thought it was just hormones but I'm certain it has to do with eating foods that don't agree with me and my MS. Since I've been on gluten, alcohol and sugar free, not to mention lectin and legume free, I usually feel a lot more energetic than I used to.

The disability cases seem to vary. Mind didn't take long. I applied and received it within 5 months. I did use a law firm though.

The drug you are talking about is ampyra. It helps some people but not all. I did try it but it made my walk worse. It also is very expensive.

My disability was ok'd in 1 week. I live in Nebraska. You also have to have a good doctor that is going to help you get it. Their documentations have a big part of it. The more wrong with you the better.

I hope you get it fast but if I remember right from the day you apply until the day you get it they have to back pay. Try and get paperwork in before election day, you never know what might happen.

I took Ampyra for a few months. Each time I had started the med I would have a flare. My Neuro thinks it wasn't due to the med, but since I have refused to take it again. I have applied for disability. I am immediately denied they always say my husband makes too much money. (If he makes too much money hows come we are always behind money wise- lol......
