Vascular dementia

Recently we shifted my 80 year old mother to a skilled nursing home in Arizona ( https://www.prestigecare.com/ ). She has been diagnosed with vascular dementia and for past one year my brother cared for her in his home. After she moved into nursing home I found a tremendous change and feel like she will be fine very soon. But I understand that there is no cure for this disease and it will get worser and worser as the time passes. But I really cant even think of losing her.

I'm glad she's seeming to do better and I hope she continues to do so. I know this must be very heart breaking. There are a number of things that can contribute to this so maybe a change of diet has been a good thing already.

One of the things which led to my dad's death was vascular dementia. The doctors thought it possibly came from anaesthetic he had during his life.

While the staff at the home provided excellent care, our Dad became less and less of the man we had known.

It is a sad and confronting condition. Stay strong, and continue to give your mother all the time and care that you can.

    I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital.  I don't think that we will have her much longer.  She is very frail.  Now she needs help eating.  So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying.  I think crying releases toxins into my body.  I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
