The 12 Things I Learned While Walking!
PaintWarrior
1. That it's great low impact exercise!
2. What's the rush??? Go slow! Take your time! You'll eventually get there!
3. That it gives me time to think, relax, meditate, & unwind from the stresses of the day.
4. That half the shit that I think I know about my neighbors!? I don't!!!
5. That one house has a middle-school age boy that is cognitively handicapped in some way or another (Autistic perhaps!?); something of great challenge!? He is out there every day when I walk, off in his own little world, yet, seemingly happy, wherever that is!? And, I think!? Wow!!! His parents might possibly have a LOT of challenges to meet & a lot of hardships that I cannot begin to imagine!!! I raised my son single-handily as a single parent & I thought that that was hard!? And, I think, even though it is a two parent family, they have other children besides him, & that life is probably even much harder for them then it was for me!? And, I wonder how hard it is & what difficulties that they may have, or encounter in dealing with their sons handicap? And, well!? I ponder all that & wonder as I am walking!?
6. That another neighbor is in a power wheelchair, & is severely handicapped!!! And, I think--I'm walking!!! Still! Right now! For this moment in time! I am walking!!! He probably wished that he could walk, & might would give everything to do so!? So right now, I'm lucky!!! Because--I'M WALKING!!!!! He isn't!!! And, then I ponder that as I walk, & think about how hard it must be for him & for his family that he is severely handicapped, & at the severe & many many multitude of challenges that they must face & that he must face!!! And, again!? I think--that I think right now as hard as life is for me--it seems to be much better than his, because--I'M WALKING!? I do not know anything for fact!!! I just ponder these thoughts/things as I walk!
7. One of my neighbors is a very nice lady with a little boy & she talked to me for a very long time one day & then brought me home! This TG, she showed up at my gate with a plate of homemade TG food, from her mother--which apparently lives in the MH behind me! A lady offered to give me & my dog a ride the other day & as it turns out that lady is her mother! Found that out today, when I met her again, while walking! And, she is the one who cooked the TG plate of food that her daughter brought to me! It was good! Said that she would make me some stuff up for Christmas too! And, I thanked her as I walked away!
8. One is a nice elderly gentleman that walks out the end of the road, & takes a rt & goes down to the church. There he rest on a tombstone! Then he walks laps around the church, rest again on the same tombstone, & then walks back home!
9. Met another gentleman today, older but not elderly, doing the best job of leaf raking I've ever seen! He chatted awhile & was very nice! He said that he had a JD mulcher mower & could do it with that, but just preferred to do it that way, for the exercise, & the therapy of it really!? I enjoyed the conversation! When the lady across the street--my new friend, dropped a car on her foot & had her foot pined flat under it, his son was one of the neighbors--of 5--that lifted the car off of her foot! The lady right next to her, is a very very nice lady that is a nurse, lives alone & is very nice to me & my dog every time I go through her yard--as it is right at a bad curve! The one right across from her is an asshole!!! To dogs esp..... Has 3! Terrible dog owner! She is the one that has the Dobbie & the other dog that has tried to attack me several times! LUCKILY!!! HER DOGS OBEY ME!!!! :)
10. I have another neighbor that is a lady! She is very nice also! And, she has a Springer Spaniel named Sophi! She loves to come out & meet my dog & then try to walk with us! One day she did & then I hooked her up & brought her back home to her mommy!
11. One neighbor is super super nice, because she is the one that came out to talk to me the day before TG, & now she & I are good friends! She invited me into their home to spend TG with them! I did! It was great! And, she has called & come by every day to check on me since! And, brought me a hot homemade plate most of those times! She has also brought me some fantastic computer speakers! And, they gave me a couple of left over rolls of welded wire, that I can use for my dogs! She has now invited me to their home for Christmas!!! As well as dinner tomorrow night! I have graciously excepted! Both! It is nice to have such good company & to know that I am not alone!!! And, to feel so cared about!
12. The point to all of this, I guess, is that we live all cooped up in our own private little worlds. Most of us totally clueless to the things that are going on around us! Some of us sit in our own private little hell, & think about how bad we have it & about how others may have it better!? Or we think that our neighborhood is just a bunch of selfish, or non-caring individuals; maybe!? Or their ALL assholes!? Maybe!? Maybe we think that we are the only one in our neighborhood that has it bad, or that has it rough, or that is poor, or handicapped, etc!?
But when we begin to walk through our neighborhoods, day to day, totally exposing our self as we walk. Our neighbors began to see us! And, slowly, one by one, they get to know us! And, as that occurs, we slowly get to know our neighbors too! And, upon doing so, we begin to realize:
That some of them are very nice, very kind, very compassionate! That once we allow them to know us, in a non-threatening way, they begin to see the human in us! And, they begin to care! Because the human in us, finds the human in them! And, Vicea/Versa! And, once we realize that they too are human, & that they are capable of seeing the human is us; & that maybe they might really care, on some level; we realize, that we are not so alone, & that many people may care, if we only get to know them & give them the chance to get to know us!
That, our neighbors have problems too!!! That they have handicaps!!! That some of them are disabled too!? That they have many many hardships that we have no ideal about!? And, that maybe, they secretly, need to be helped! Need to be loved! Need to know that somebody cares or gives a crap about them too! And, that maybe even one or two might have it as bad as we do, or maybe even worse than we do!?
That behind the nice houses, & maybe even nice cars, trucks, etc.... are people who are just human, & have problems just like us!
Once we begin to come to all of these realizations!? We begin to see the world in a much different, much deeper way!!! And, with all of this realized, maybe we don't feel so alone anymore??? And, that maybe we can look at everything in our lives in a very different, very deep, very human way, with eyes of compassion, understanding, forgiveness, PEACE, & LOVE!?
I thought since there are many things like the 12 Days of C-mas, etc.... that I would sum up the things I've learned walking into THE 12 THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ON MY WALKS! I HOPE YOU HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING DEEP, GOOD OR POSITIVE FROM THIS!? AND, I HOPE THAT IT HELPS YOUR LIVES IN SOME WAY OR NOTHER & THAT IT HAS PERHAPS HELPED YOU TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF OF THINGS FOR A WHILE, OR PERHAPS MADE YOU THINK ABOUT LIFE A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY, OR MORE DEEPLY, OR MORE RICHLY!? MAYBE THIS WILL HELP YOU TO LOOK AT OR TO THINK OF YOUR NEIGHBOR DIFFERENTLY NOW!? AND, BRING ALL OF YOU MORE PEACE!?
SO "MERRY CHRISTMAS" TO ALL & TO ALL A NEW & BLESSED YEAR, WITH NEW UNDERSTANDING, FORGIVENESS & INSIGHT!!!!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
