i'm a firm believer that with age comes wisdom, and really would like some relationship advice!
i'm pretty outgoing, and my boyfriend is definitely not shy, but being in college, he prefers to stay in, and is kind of against the fraternity/sorority life, where i just want to go have fun, and am fine with anyone. i've never discussed how i'm fine with that, so that's my own fault.
i feel at a loss because for the past year, i haven't really gone out the way i used to, not because anything other than i know he isn't crazy about the idea. in the end, i just feel bored and kind of sad, seeing others go have fun. it's kind of making me grumpy too
it's similar to the feeling when you have a bad relapse and know to take it easy, but i feel like i'm acting this way about life, regardless of how i'm feeling health wise.
i have no idea how to handle this situation because but there's plenty of fish in the sea, but i don't want to give up on the relationship, but need to be happy in that area of my life too

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

You two will end up resenting each other after a while.
Tell him how you feel. Remember it is "I feel" not " you make me feel"
Perhaps he is not as comfortable meeting new people like you are. Self confidence could be the concern.
Try making a compromise! 2 days a week the two of you will go out some where ( nothing too frightening at first) and 2-3 days of the week you will stay in and study.
Let us know how this works out for you! Good Luck!
The compromise that Marilyn gave Ian good way to approach the situation. It is a good idea to get this talked out and find a way to compromise now before this situation gets more involved.
Best of luck. :)

Yes, tell him how you feel, and try to make that compromise. If that doesn't work, I say go out with your girlfriends and have a good time without feeling any guilt.
At the juncture I'm in, it would be more about making new friends by doing new things and not just out to party, etc. But, I would have huge reserves if anyone tried to cut me off from the rest of the world. Growing and learning has a lot to do with keeping a wide circle of friends. Like Patrick Swayze said in Dirty Dancing, "nobody puts Baby in the corner" and I believe in that philosophy. Don't let anyone cut you off from society.
Since walking and balance are my most visible symptoms, I start by attributing it to dropped foot syndrome. But as things progress, I feel like I'm not being quite honest.
I would rather find out if there's any possibility of a relationship, before I drop the bomb. One man never spoke to me again; another (current) says it doesn't matter, and he's attentive to me tripping over rugs and doesn't care; another man I haven't told, because I don't see a future with him.
Yes, I'm 60, widowed 12 years, dating and having a ball!
