Often I find the Christopher and Dana Reeve web site has a lot of info applicable to ms. I copied this blurb.....there is always hope and lots of research we don't always know about.

A paper was published a couple of weeks ago from the Martin Schwab lab at the Brain Research Institute in Zurich. Schwab, as you know if youve been following along, is a member of the Reeve Foundation International Research Consortium for Spinal Cord Injury; twenty-five-plus years ago, he discovered a protein in the area of CNS damage that actively worked against the ability of nerve fibers to grow or recover. The protein, called Nogo-A, has been at the center of his work ever since. Indeed, the Schwab lab long ago figured out how to block Nogo, and therefore promote growth.
Anti-Nogo antibodies have shown promise in animal models, which led to a Phase I human trial in Europe and Canada. The trial, with 52 acute SCI patients, looked at pharmacokinetics, safety, tolerance and dosing. The Schwab lab notes that tolerance has been excellent without any adverse effects ascribed to the anti-Nogo antibody. A placebo-controlled Phase II clinical trial is being prepped. Anti-Nogo antibodies are also in clinical trials, or will be soon, for multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
