They featured the story of David Osmond (nephew of Donny Osmond) who is a new "voice for MS). Meredith Viera covered the story.
They kinda glossed over the meds and what has led to his remission and how he improved--from wheelchair, to walking, to marriage and being a dad--but there was an emphasis on really taking care of yourself, including changing eating habits to have better, healthier foods as part of a healthier lifestyle. I thought it was presented fairly well--and the phrase used by both Allen and David is "I may have MS but it doesn't have me".

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

what i'm not looking forward to is people thinking that MS goes into remission like cancer and that you can cause this remission with positive thinking.
The best thing about these types of interviews is it helps us to get more education to the general public out there... I was surprized not to hear anything about Meredith's husband's MS, but I knew they would have her covering the story... Interviews such as this are VERY IMPORTANT to continue to bring awareness to what MS is and how it impacts our lives... I really did love them showing how we can LIVE NORMAL LIVES despite this stupid MonSter living in our bodies!!! Thanks for sharing!! xoxoxo Cj
Emmy Award-winning journalist Richard Cohen makes no secret about how proud he is of his wife, View co-host Meredith Vieira. But one secret Cohen kept well-hidden was his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. In fact, Cohen kept his illness so well disguised he was often mistaken for being intoxicated.
"I always resisted being defined by my MS," says Cohen, who published Blindsided: Lifting a Life Above Illness: A Reluctant Memoir. "That's why I was obsessively secretive about it in the early years. It never dawned on me that people thought I had a drinking problem. Police even followed me home a few times thinking I was under the influence."

As far as Richard and 25+ years of the MonSter, remember that everyone's course of MS is different... I've had it over 24 years, and I'm still pretty active with my farm and pups and chickies... Sure, I take lots of rest time (right here on my computer as you can see... LOL), but we can all live active important LIVES not giving it to the MonSter who lives in our bodies!!! Of course, I HAVE MS BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE ME!!! xoxoxo Cj
HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL!!!
Have been to a place, ten years ago which is still hard to think about.
Spent four years bedridden, requiring help to transfer from bed to W/C. Needed help for almost everything I needed to do. Could not even stand unaided.
Started reading alot about MS & every alternative method I could find.
Looked at internet sites, checking specifically for MS ttreatment info;
Support groups, such as this one, as well as health magazines.
Became my own expert over time.
My alternative method is working so well, that I have steadily improved, left some symptoms behind &, yes have been in remission since year 2000. Now am able to walk with 2 canes & actually did so recently at a local beach just days ago, wonderfull feeling. Never dreamed that I would do that.
I want someone to come interview me, would love to to become a voice for MS. A Canadian voice. I know how to manage MS without steroids, never did them in my almost 30yr quest. I have a written testimonial from a from a past physiotherapist, about his feeling about me.
Using carefull diet, several specific supplements, along with regular
exercise, MS can be kept stable. Symptoms can be improved.
Ideas anyone, would like to hear?
