My old neuro was not qualified.
*insert eye roll*
Ok, my last vent about this... but as I have been venting, my new neuro blasted my diagnosing and treating doctor of the last 10 years.
He said she is not a real MS doctor and did not receive MS training and not qualified. Thus why he is undiagnosing all her patients.
This from a sleep disorder doctor.
She never boasted to me to be anything. But this is her info.
Dr. Kresa-Reahl graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in multiple sclerosis and movement disorders at Georgetown University Hospital. She was an assistant professor at West Virginia University and served as research advocate for the National MS Society. Dr. Kresa-Reahl is actively involved in clinical trials to improve treatment of MS.
Now I know there are others more qualified than her, but I think she has a lot more experience than he.
I will now stop stressing and let it be.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

As to him picking it apart, he has penis envy, although she has no penis, but you get my point. He is jealous of her accomplishments. Watching him talk about her was like watching Jr High kids gossip about the home coming queen. It would be funny if it weren't for the fact he is hurting people.
I have a feeling, once she hears from me, she will call and insist on knowing who he undiagnosed and insist they get proper treatment. Maybe not to him, but see a group of doctors bought out her practice, and she can work with the other doctors. Something tells me, she will not let this be. Even if she would not care about the patients, which I always felt she did, but that aside, her ego will not let him slam her hard work and say these things about her.
This is his credential as posted on the hospital website. As to why I went to him, is there are no MS doctors in WV, all you can go to is a neurologist, with specialties in other areas.
*****, MD, a fellowship-trained neurologist who specializes in sleep disorders, has joined the Department of Neuroscience at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University and the Medical Staff of Cabell Huntington Hospital. Dr. ***** completed a fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of Chicago and completed his neurology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Dr. **** earned his medical degree at Marmara University Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey.
Your old neuro may just have a professional manner not to let her be bothered by what this new neuro is saying about her, but to worry about the patients that he has un-dxed. I hope that she has a review board to complain to, and finds out from other patients that are going through what you are going through to support your allegations. This whole situation is just totally unacceptable.
I'm really glad that you contacted your primary care physician and got some direction to take with this whole situation. Sometimes when things first happen, we are so blinded by the unbelieveablility of it all that we cannot think straight. It seems like you have your head on straight about how to handle this. You are also being careful not to slander this new neuro's name and this is a proper action by you. I think I would have posted his name, address and phone number for all of the world to see and say alot more worse things about him than you have! Tara, things will get better. You now have a direction and plan. But, don't feel you don't have to keep us posted. We are all very much into this situation now and your accomplilshments/challenges are worthy of posting on this subject.
I thought about starting a sub-group of doctor's names and addresses. This would be helpful for people like you looking for good medical care in MS speciality. When you were asking for a specialist in the Pa. area, I thought if we had a forum like that how helpful it would be. I just don't know if people would be willing to do the work to post their doctor's names and addresses?
Well sweetie, good luck. This too shall pass. Really.
I definitely agree with your intuition that you should email her so hopefully she can make some time to see you when she's in your area. I'm with MyMsBS. The sooner you contact your old neuro the better.
Glad you seem to be managing this craziness so well.
