When I'm having an attack (at least three that I've been in) my extra but moreso from being exhausted by daily activities or my reaent back pain. sleep comes from depression but moreso because I cannot stop thinking bout my diagnosis and the people it rescues that me away from- the people who caret
Sleeping for 10-15 hours is something that can easily occur for me during the day from my lack of sleep, and even with three medications dedicated to keeping me awake- when fatigue hits- those medicines must turn to air! Particularly during an attack or if a residual symptom.
Because my depression is quite severe (who knows what level or symptom it is-and frankly with depression-what is, is!) I know 10 hours in bed is the result of me not wanting to get up, and giving myself reasons to pretend I don't exist. Probably not the healthiest response I'm sure, but my depressive state of emotions tends to fluctuate throughout the week- also a factor. Some days are more productive than others.
Overall- Rest is important- helps to balance out the effort your making that may cause fatigue!? Good luck with the sleep- alternatively I hear that your body tells you what you need- if your week is functional but you still need sleep...maybe it's alright to sleep a bunch?
Sorry I rambled- just hope I was able to help even a bit.. And at least this post has been reviewed for auto-spell check disasters..
Good Morning, God Bless. And good luck.
I do have trouble falling aleep though. Even if I am bone tired, I have a problem getting "sleepy".
It helped once I identified the difference between what being tired feels like and being sleepy feels like.
Unfortunately, with the MS, a lot of us feel tired all the time..when we feel tired, we want to lay down and take a nap. But we cannot fall asleep that way. At least I can't.
You have to wait till you literally cannot keep your eyes open, then get into bed.
I go to bed at a regular time on weeknight & lucky to get 2 hours sleep before I wake & can't get back to sleep. Then I get tired & fall asleep during the afternoon/evening esp in this heat.
Going to try the machine again on the w/end to see if I can get more sleep.
