Furious with my neuro!

Got done with neuro and I'm icked. He completely ignored my physical symptom and wants to send me to a neuro psych eval to map out where damage is since the MRI shows no damage in the areas that would cause memory problems. He thinks I could have ADHD. I'm almost 40, not 4. I'm almost decided on getting a second opinion. im going to wait and see what happens with the eval first.Hubby said it sounds like he's playing spin the diagnosis wheel and he's icked too.
Yes. I know its all in my head because I have the pictures to prove it!

Hang in there neuro's and dr's can be tough to deal with at times just stay strong. Hope things work out for you.

I feel your pain I was on that horrible roller coaster for almost 3 years I finally went to see the neuro psych and it was actually helpful to my case. It helped me to deal with the issues and she actually referred me to a neuro that specialized in MS. Unfortunately that MS has left and the roller coaster is back on but the neuropsych can be of some assistance hopefully for you as she was for me. (((hugs)))) Take a deep breath it WILL get better.

i'd trust the doctor as long as you can afford to have the test done, it can only help in the long run. i'd rather have a thorough doctor than one who doesn't look into everything.

always get a second opinion after a concrete diagnosis, but i think quitting one neuro now will just create more confusing work for the next doctor and draw the process out longer, you cana have both adhd and ms too, so it's not necessarily discounting anythin

I would have been a little put out but I've read some information by Dr. Daniel Amen. He points out that people do have physiological symptoms that cause a whole lot of things and these symptoms are very real. He pioneered SPECT imaging. This could be a blessing in disguise, that your neuro has mentioned something that seems so outrageous.

Hope this helps you feel better about this. I'd ask about getting the scan while you're at it. I'd like to have one. As a matter of fact, I'm seeing my neuro again Tuesday and am going to mention this. After listening to an audiobook called Change Your Brain, Change Your Life by Dr. Amen, I'd love to learn a lot more about this.

Hope you don't feel insulted at all by my mentioning this sort of thing. Just trying to share what I think is some light on the horizon.

(I'm not sure if he actually pioneered the SPECT imaging altogether or it's use to diagnose psychological/ psychiatric areas.)

My neuro wanted the neuropsych test this year also. He wanted it as a baseline he said. I was worried about the test because I was clueless as to what it was. It wound up to be a six hour session(With a lunch break.) of all sorts of the i.q. type tests you can play on the Internet.

Getting the results back were interesting. My ability to draw is lower than he felt it should be. Hmmmm, I have been hearing that since I was in kindergarten. If it hasn't changed in 42 years, doubt we can chalk that up to MS.

Go w/ your gut. You know best about your body. Docs make mistakes. An MRI cannot possibly tell you where where all your MS symptoms come from. My neuro was 40+ yrs. exper / MS and on MS society Board and never ever said anything like that.
I had a neuropsych test done. It helped me get SS disability and showed me where my memory problems were. It did take ~7 hrs w/ break.
But if you dont trust your neuro, get list of MS specialists from MS Society.

One other thing: a good doc can dx quickly w/out waffling around. You and your husband are right when you fel "iky"
