The last neuro I had did not recommend the flu shot and I was glad about that, it had seemed like everytimeI was around someone that had just gotten the shot I would get sick. I never had gotten the flu really though as an adult until last March when I had it twice. I do not what to go though that again and know I will need to handcuff and bribe Steph so she can get one. I am asking if you get the shot and how did it make your MS react? This is the first time I have ever considered it. Just do not want the flu again. Thanks!

I just had to come back long enough to say you and I have something in common. Rape. Mine came a little later in life though. I read about you after I answered your post. I have to get a move on or I won't have my bed ready for tonite.

They gave me a flu shot last fall when I was having some tests done in the hospital. I was already having a relapse so I don't think it did anything or made me any worse. I didn't get the flu or any other viral infections last year or this year. I haven't decided yet if I will get the flu shot this year although my neuro wants to start me on Tysabri so I may just because Tysabri is suppose to lower the immune system and I don't want to risk getting the flu since I work with students at a university and they are always getting sick.

I have had one each year since 2005 with no problems. I work at a university where outbreaks of illness can be terrible. Last year I got the pneumonia shot and while co-workers got sick with various respiratory illnesses through the winter, I never even got a cold. First year for that to happen. I usually catch everything going around.

I just got this year's flu shot and will be getting another pneumonia shot soon.

After two straight years of getting the flu, including one bout where I was sick in bed for a month, I've been getting the flu shot. I personally think the flu episodes triggered my MS.

I got the seasonal vaccine already this year, and I'm waiting on the H1N1 Swine flu vaccine to come out in a few weeks. I've done my research, and I'll get it as soon as it comes out.

I was just in Summit County, Colorado, where swine flu is really rampant. There was a death of a 13 year old boy while I was there. On more than one occasion, I sat at the next table over from a sick person. I was convinced I was coming home with swine flu. I can't rely on others to shield me from the flu, because they insist on going out in public with symptoms and exposing others.

The NMSS recommends a killed virus shot. Therefore, the FluMist is out, as it contains a live, atttenuated virus. Here's the link:

i get a flu shot every year because i get sick very easly. my nuero told me to get a flu shot. he told me that when i was dx with ms on april 14,2004 and have been getting them every since with no trouble.. i also get the pneumonia shot to and have noo trouble what so ever. i guess it is everybody's own preference. i am happy with getting the flu sht.

There is a Dr. Mercolla online who writes about all the negative aspects involved in
flu shots. He seems like an alternative type MD, & if you register on his site, there are regular interesting updates sent.
