My neurologists used to tell me not to get flu shots, but this was over 10 years ago I think. Lately they advise me to make sure to get my flu shot, as getting the flu can trigger an attack, or be very severe.

I have been getting my flu shots each year, and have not had a flu for several years.

Maybe everyone is different - you may be exposed to more people with flu (like working around children, or working at all.)I am no longer working, so am only exposed to my husband on an everyday basis, unless I go out shopping. I try to keep a waterless hand cleaner bottle in my purse to wash my hands after touching the shopping cart, or handling money.

I guess we all have to do what we feel is best for us. Good luck to you this winter, and to us all. I know many people are against shots, and I'm not sure if they are right. I don't know.

My doc told me along time ago, about 15 years not to ever take the flu shot. But some are different. I would listen to your doctor and yourself, you know how your body is better than anyone.

I take the flu shot every year and never know I have had it. I take a dose of Tylenol when I get it.

With the flu shot ,get aches but tyenal fix that.

My doctor, about 7 years ago, encouraged me to get the flu shot every year, since I still have kids in school that can bring home whateveer is out there. The shots have never bothered me. Getting the flu REALLY bothers me. It is much harder and takes much longer for someone with MS to recover from any illness.

My name is Scott. My friend has MS. Her first attack was in 2000. She starting getting flu shots in 1998 or 1999. I was reading about MS because my friend doesn't like to talk about it. What I read is that the cause of MS is uncertain, I'm not a doctor but if the cause is uncertain then I would think you would not rule out anything. I'm not saying that any one should or should not take flu shots or vaccines but I would not rule them out. Other studies have shown that mercury exposure can interfere with the developing nervous system.

I only had the flu shot once. I did read about the Thimerosal in the pamphlets about the shot and it does have mercury in it. They have flu shots without the Thimerosal. Unfortunately, I was exposed to the flu while taking solumedrol, took flu shot and got flu. So it was because of MS nurse had a confirmed case of flu.

I am not around hardly any people as I am homebound, so I will not take the flu shot. I know everyone is different and they know how their bodies react.

I read this about Thimerosal. What if some people are just allergic to it. I dont know but I like to use the duck theory. It smells like a duck to me. Thimerosal is 49% Mercury. I'm not going to put Mercury in my body on purpose. Lake fish has small traces of Mercury. What if the combined Thimerosal and Mercury we eat in fish has a unwanted effect? I want to help my friend. I don't want to give her false hope. I was reading that some people think that MS is caused by heavy metal toxicity or mercury toxicity. They talk about a cure for MS, chelation therapy or detoxification. Has any one heard of this? A different friend of mine has a child that had autism and gave her child this detoxification therapy. I was just diagnosed In August and my neuro suggested (strongly) that I get the shot. I got it & didn't have any bad side effects. I have to admit that I didn't like the idea but it was worth it as everyone around me seems to be sick but me. So I guess foe me it was worth it. Good luck on your decision

Of'course I'll get the dumb flue shot even trhough it woun't help me. But hopw do you know? I would just be safe!
