Has anyone else fallen? I find that I fall suddenly. There's no reason for it. One minute I'm standing and the next I am on the floor. I feel ridiculous but I feel that I can ask this here. Any comments?

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

the first time i fell i hit my head on the tub and kiddo had to come pull me up. geeze! it came out of nowhere!
there have been more times when i almost fell....fortunately. unfortunately it always happened while someone was looking. urghh...nothings private about this disease.
i think the first fall because it hurt so bad, kept me aware of the possibilities. my hardest time is in the morning when i get up. i sleep on the couch now because the bed is so high up it scares me. so, i roll off the couch and grab the coffee table for support.
alot of times its all about slowing down. thinking about what you are doing before you do it.
we have become creatures of habit and run on automatic pilot....

ha ha?
Yes, in fact I have fallen but not gotten seriously hurt, thank goodness. I do find it funny if no pain is involved. I laugh at myself.
I hope all who read this stay safe and on their feet!
Heck I fell off the school bus taking my students in a few weeks ago, yeah just because I could I guess. First day new feet ;)
1st skinned knee I have had since I was a kid.
Yeah we all fall for no particular reason and at random, I panicked and called the Dr. and he was like "yeah, expect that from now on"
Of course I got more of an explanation than that, but thats the "jist" of it.
Fun, fun.....
i fell on Christmas day and sprained my ankle. hobbled around a few days then began having some severe nerve issues in each leg but at different times.
as i was heading up the stairs the other day my left leg just didn't work and i began to go down(luckily, not backwards) and my roomate came running to catch me.
since the legs are acting up and i have had an issue turning too fast or balancing...i do all the things i know will cause trouble very slowly. and as far as the stairs...i cannot afford to fall down them and break something...so, i concentrate as i go up or down.
in the beginning with the MS i fell down or lost balance all the time. couldn't close my eyes or i would fall down...i still hold onto the shower wall when i close my eyes to get the soap out of my hair.
I have had issues with falling randomly ever since depending on my day. On good days I don't fall, on bad days I do. The thing I have to remember is that I need to laugh at myself on a consistent basis in order to keep my spirits up!!! As many of you already do!
I have been accident prone my whole life so laughing at falling comes natural to me! I think sometimes I try to figure out new more creative ways to fall so that I can laugh at myself even more.... but maybe I am just weird like that!
class, but they were really nice about
it and seemed concerned. Nobody laughed
at me (at least to my face)ha, ha. Anyway,
it just happens and after that I could
have cared less. It is worth mentioning
that my 2 best friends let it be known
that if anyone had laughed it would not
have been pretty. They support me!!!
Don't ever be embarrassed about something
that can't be helped. Surround yourself
with good people and that will help.
Best wishes..Tina
So I slept with my daughter last night in her high off the ground bed due to my husbands VERY loud snoring. When things quited down I went to get up to go back to my own bed when wham, I hit the ground! I remembered this "falling" post and had to laugh. Fortuantely I wasn't hurt!
Talk about a rude awaking!
Basically, I still fall over my own feet on occasion but usually catch myself, thank goodness.
In Physical Therapy, my trainer had walked me around the room - I held his arm for steadiness and he kept telling me, "heel to toe." It helped me a lot to focus on how I was walking. Seems crazy since we used to be able to just take walking for granted.
I almost fell today... lost my balance when I reached up to get a towel out of the shower for the wash. Was strange because I already had my feet firmly planted but they didn't want to stay there.
I talk to my left foot "don't you want to come with the rest of my body?" My husband laughs because he now knows I will too.
Honestly once I got over the fear of falling, I became more relaxed and was able to NOT fall.
