My nails recently have begun to look awful. My sister-in-law (who took biotin to help recovery from chemo) takes it, and my mom started a few months ago and says it has made a noticeable difference in her nails. I googled it (as you do) and was really surprised to see that is has been tested out on PPMS with good results.

Getting enough selenium, zinc, iodine, collagen Type 2, omega 3 fats, vitamins ACE are all good to help you grow healthy hair and nails.
PS You have to be able to activate B vitamins (aka methylate your B vitamins ie methyl folate) for them to work.
See you have to absorb B vitamins then you need to shape them so you can use them. The same way you have to shape a unformed key for it to work in your door. As you age some people have problems shaping / activating their B vitamins. IF..IF this is your problem then you have to take activated (methylated) forms of the vitamins for them to work.
