Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
So if you are having daily migraines, the best thing to do is talk to your parents about seeing a headache specialist. Not just a neurologist that you can find in the phone book. I mean, research on the computer a "headache specialist" or "headache clinic" somewhere around your area.
Highschool was very hard for me to get though. College was impossible for me to get through. I tried to finish 3 times. My headaches were just so bad I couldn't do it. I have like 2 or 3 semesters left to graduate, but every time I try to finish...the headaches just get the best of me.
So you really want to get on top of this as soon as you can. Don't let your college experience be as hellish as your high school experience or worse.
So go through this procedure and see what happens, but if the doctor is still at a loss.....really consider talking to your parents about going to a headache center.
Please let us know how the procedure goes.
I have been going through similar experiences. I'm a bit older than you, I was able to finish college, taking some time off due to the chronic migraine diagnosis. I was also recommended to possible get a spinal tap to check my CSF, I'm nervous about the procedure since all my MRIs have come back normal I don't want to go through the whole process just to be told again that I'm normal. But at the same time I know its the right thing to do, so I can rule out other possibilities of what could be causing my daily headaches and migraines.
I have found that this whole process is arduous, especially since you have migraines and have to call to make appointments. Its like fighting an uphill battle. But its great to reach out on here and find support in others that understand what its like to being going through the same thing.
Let us know how everything goes.
