Girls I need a reply and encouragement right away like ASAP please heres my issues. i'm 53 and have every menopause symptom you can think of and then some. I have had bad experiences with dentist before like broken jaw and so forth so i have neglected going for years (so much fear) I have 5 more teeth that need to come out one is broke way up in the cum and the other one is so never exposed so sore i can't even touch it with my tongue i have been in suicidal pain for 3 weeks and can only chew on two teeth in the front. I have made and cancel my dentist appointments cause panic and anxiety and fear gets the best of me . I cry-and keep a constant fear , doom and gloom feeling in me i JUST CANT SHAKE! I have a dentist appointment tomorrow cause i know i HAVE no choice that these teeth must be cut out but I'm afraid my body will fight against me. Anyone else dealt with this or have some bad teeth and have put it off?PLEASE I need to hear from someone that understands please reply like today before my appointment tomorrow wednesday at 11:00 am eastern time is what i'm scheduled for! Menopause has caused me such physical and emotional and depression major! I take no meds at all for nothing scare of that too..plus no HRT due to high blood pressure and blood clot they caused me when i was in the birthing babies years.

hugssss hun I am praying for you since i read your post. I crued cuz i know exactly how you feel, i am going through menopause and just had an ablation done on my thyroid. everything is so touchy with me especially the dentist. i pray alot God is my comfort, i have lorazepam i take before i go to the dentist to calm me, i was never like this til i started going through all of these other things. my dentist and his crew are very patient and kind, they hold my hand and talk to me taking my mind off my anxiety, it doesnt go completely away but it sure helps, i tell myself if i dont get it done i could end up with heart problems or other diseases this also helps and each second that passes i know im closer to being done :-) also once that tooth is pulled the anxiety slips away, i know it does me then im appologising and laughing all over yself and even cry cuz i feel silly but they assure me it is all good. i will keep praying for you when your laying in the chair squeeze your hand tight pretend my hand is there holding yours, it will be ok hugssssssssssssssssssssss

just want to thank you all for your kind words, compassion and wisdom. Seems like Thursday is a longways off but it's not really. I keep telling myself everyday that you must go through this cause it has to be done. You all have been such a help and encouragement and i can't tell you just how much you all have helped and I hope to post and give all details after this nightmare for me is all over. Thanks again!

Hang in there. Something from your doctor may help you get there. If you have a good oral surgeon he should make you feel comfortable. I have had bad teeth all of my life and have been through so much pain. Finally about 3 years ago I decided I could no longer stand the pain. I already had a partial plate of about 6 top front teeth and only had about 7 teeth left in my mouth which were rotted and hurting. My oral surgeon was wonderful. I did not get put to sleep. After I was numb everything went well. Wasn't really any pain, just pressure. I now have full dentures and it is the best thing I ever did. I can now smile again and not be embarrassed. well today my panic has been high and my dentist consultation isnt until thursday this week...Should I decide to be put to sleep or not i'm afraid two of my teeth are so bad and sore that maybe numbing them wont work. has anyone here been put to sleep getting teeth done if so please share with me. What would you all pick if it was you? I gotta decide by thursday they wont do the work until monday but after X-rays thursday we will make those plans...

Hello Polarbaby57 I had to have two teeth removed and was in pain. Like you I have anxiety issues. I found a oral surgeon who was really good with me. He put me to sleep to remove the teeth.

I wish you all the best in your upcoming appointment.
Talk with your dentist about what would be best for you to do to get your teeth fixed or removed.

I know its scary,but once you get those teeth out,your going to feel so much better and I hope you will be proud of yourself for facing a fear.

Update on my dentist phobia... I am on antibotics 500 mgs of erythromicin and have a schedule appointment Monday Oct 4th and let me tell you I'm going to keep it fear and ALL! I wanted to share with you what the dentist Aesthetic Dental Ctr said on thier answering machine about a dental emergency They said that " If you have severe swelling and difficulty swallowing , breathing or closing your eyes to seek medical attention in ER immediately. Keep praying for me...I will have to go a couple of times because my work that needs to be done are on oppsoite sides of my mouth.

Good for you PolarBaby ! ! ! I know you'll do it this time. You will feel 100x better and be better for it.

This WILL be a new beginning for you because you'll come to see that you CAN do it and it wasn't as bad as you thought. It will help
strengthen your courage and raise your esteem so the next thing that comes along will be that much easier for you.

thank you for your post I REALLY needed to hear it..Monday seems like a real longtime off. i am fighting fear like you wouldn't believe . Fear is a horrible paralyzing force! I just pray the regular dentist can get this one that is broke off into the gum that is making me the MOST fear. Facing fear is tough one, but running from it is more dangerous in the end!

AH HA ..........That sounds much better. I think that's the best positive response I've ever heard from you. lol

I was telling my mother about your situation and she said she went through the same thing (broken tooth) and had to have it removed and as fearful as she was, she had it done and was thrilled after it was over.

You know you'll be happier for it.

I understand exactly what your going through. I dreaded the dentist for years because of my panick attacks and gagging problems.

I finally found a dentist that gives me 3 ativan to take 1 hour prior to appointment. Then once I get there take give me the laughing gas. I swear I feel nothing, not even when they give me the novacaine. Half the times I end of falling alseep because I'm so relaxed.

Try and find a dentist thats is licenced to distribute drugs. I promice you it really works and you feel nothing.
