I'm always paranoid about vet and fleas, and there's a homeless cat I feed that I don't get near, cause it's always scratching.
It's true what penntucky said. Fleas that are outside will jump onto your pants leg. Adult fleas lay up to 50 eggs per day and about 500 in it's lifespan. Makes you almost want to get a flamethrower to resolve the lawn.
