Good luck
2 years ago I spent almost one thousand dollars, total, on all kind of remedies which didn't work, then finally....
SALT---50 cents a pound regular kitchen salt; LOTS of it; spread it on every carpet in your place.
BUT, COVER THE SALTED CARPETS WITH PLASTIC TARPS, CUT FLUSH TO EDGE OF WALL----CAUSE THE SALT CAN SICKEN YOUR CATS.
spend next few weeks waiting for fleas to die, while every day combing fleas out your cats and simply throwing the fleas into water to die; simple drowning will kill captured fleas.
the salt is like glass to fleas----cuts right through their shell. once fleas are gone, vacum up salt real good.
i still have salt in corners of my carpets, behind radiators, and in closed closets----fleas love the dark.
You'll need to wash the cats' bedding and the areas where they like to sleep. They will especially harbor fleas. You'll also need to bathe the cats to help make their skin feel better. Their are oatmeal based shampoos that are designed to help skin. Good luck.
you're supposed to vacume carpets regularly----but at same time the heat from vacume also makes the eggs hatch quicker! can't win.
turn up the air conditioning too to fight fleas, though might have to worry about cats getting sick from cold.
best to confine cats to easily cleaned rooms till fleas are gone.
I have taken it to the next level of bombing the rooms ..see if that does the trick,, Cats jump about and stay off of the floor as much as possible lately ,,,who can blame them,, also using garlic in their diet ,,,
cats like high places, no matter what; all cats like high spots to check for predators---it's in their genes.
just keeping your cats inside will help; they'll just keep on getting fleas----and feline leukemia----from being outside.
GARLIC CAN KILL A CAT-----NEVER GIVE GARLIC TO A CAT.
Also, there are natural flea collars and you may want to investigate some of them and discuss them with your vet.
Research about fleas and what they can carry. It's worth it to jump in there and work hard to get rid of them.
Also, do NOT BOMB THE HOME when pets are anywhere in the home. You have to be gone for so long. When you return you have to wipe counters thoroughly and vacuum because it is a pesticide that you just used and exploded all over and it's not good for you either.
i read so much stuff about cats and fleas 2 years ago, including all kind of conflicting stuff.
a dollar flea comb, and combing the fleas off of cat is certainly yucky, but that really has to be done to get rid of fleas.
nightmarish and mind boggling how can comb all the fleas off a cat in morning, kill them, and then find more fleas on cat at night to do same with.
the mothballs are in the bag in the vacuum. not on the floor or rug,,, so there is no contact ,,.. Also got a generic Lufenuron 165mg for once per month,, I sprayed the outside today and around the perimeter by the doors windows etc.
Bombing is with the cats in another residence totally for most of a day,, and I intend to vac and mop before they come back....I know to be cautious, but the fleas gotta go.. the cats are 24/7 indoor,,
