It's more likely his family will disapprove of me because they are Muslim, but that remains to be scene.
I've only once said hi to his sister on Skype, and he hasn't talked to other family members for years.

Hi my parents disapprove of my interracial relationship SO MUCH! My friends have all been ok with it, and so is my sister and cousins. Yes. Most of my family does. I no longer talk to my father because I've had it. Like 2 people from my family said congrats to me when I got engaged and when I got pregnant. Then when I had my miscarriage everyone all of a sudden cared. I am thinking about cutting people out COMPLETELY. Family is supposed to be with you no matter what.

I've had disapproval, but I confronted it because I was not about to stand for it. I've been through HELL and now that I've found someone nice, who happens to be white..I won't stand for anyone's opinion...Our happiness is all I care about.

my family disapproves ive been kicked out on the street at 17 because of it and then a few years later they contacted me and wanted a relationship back. the problelm is they still disapprove but they try to act ok with it, but under the surface i know its an issue and im not ok with them being "fake" about it. the reason i know this is when they get mad or we get in an arguement its always thrown in my face and i agree with u lividman im with someone i love after alot of heartache and hard times and he was there for me when they tossed me out on the street like a piece of trash so im not about to let them bring me down and if they EVER treat or say anything out of line in front of our daughter im cutting them out of my life again

scarednervous curious as to why u are not allowed to have friends or family? its not the same as having to make the decision to cut them out because they have different views on interracial relationships but it sounds like your saying your boyfriend doesnt allow you to have friends

i talk to my family, and his family, but no friends, at first it was hard but im used to it now

I completely understand he doesnt like my family at all and it pisses him off that i still communicate with them so my contact with them is limited to holidays (which is fine by me because i dont care for them much either) unfortunately i am living with them right now and cant wait to get the hell outta there. anyways i am cool with his family he has a big family lots of female cousins so we go to alot of his family events and i enjoy them. i can talk to what few friends i have left but he doesnt like me to "go out" with them. im used to it to it doesnt bother me so much anymore but on occasion it can and i picture myself 20 years down the line with no friends and i question whether or not its ok to live like that

It's absolutely wrong for a mate, spouse, friend, family or relation of any kind to forbid you to have friends. No matter what the reason is, if a person is a good friend who respects and treats you in a caring way, you should include them in your life.

I wouldn't be with a mate who wouldn't let me have friends. That's abuse, like it or not, they are controlling you and you will get sick and tired of it at some point. Jealousy will make you a bitter person and waste your life as long as you allow it to rule you.

While no one can forbid me to talk to anyone, my boyfriend also gets upset sometimes when I hang out with family or friends, especially guy friends. I think this is because he knows my parents would rather see me with a white man and first wonders how I can still talk to them, and second is jealous of any white male friends I have. I get frustrated with it sometimes, but we've had a lot of heated discussions about it. I understand where he is coming from.

The part of truely loving someone - is accepting them for who they are.Family/friends might not like ur partner (everybody is entitled to their opinion), but trying to stop u doing something - is completely wrong and unhealthy in my opinion!
I'm a white girl dating a black guy, and my family disapproves it. And its annoying they think they can make me leave him! And what hurts the most is that they say all the rubish about him and they have never even met him! Though my boyfriend's family likes me, and my dad is on our side (but they are all in different countries).

When I first started dating my boyfriend, his mom wouldn't speak to me. She called me a whore an accused me of trying to get pregnant by her son! ( which still has not happened yet and it has been 3 years!)
I personally don't believe in making people like me. I kept my distance and she eventually came around.
