As some of you here know, we are, at this stage, almost ten weeks out from our dday, just a little over 2 months by a week or two. One of the things I've noticed in reading the various stories on this and other forums is somewhere around seven months, one year, two years, and even three, that what appears to be a strong, positive, rebuilding process suddenly turns south and falls apart. And in some cases, it isn't clear why this happened.
So I thought I would ask, for those this has happened to, have you been able to identify why the relapse occurred? Was it due to not having worked through all the issues fully? Getting stuck somewhere in the grieving process? The BS gave it their best but just couldn't seem to get past the hurt/anger? (On that last one, if you know, tell why that was so.)
And I'm also wondering if there are spouses whose rebuilding has gone much smoother, without any big relapses or near-marriage-destroying events/reactions happening. Taking into consideration that there are ups and downs, but I'm talking about major, like the OP makes contact again and the CS gets fired back up for her/him. Stuff like that didn't happen, but overall has become better and better to where you are to date?
I think the reason I ask this is first because those that don't have problems of that magnitude we never hear about, only the ones that fail or nearly fail after months/years of positive growth. And secondly, because I'm hoping we can be a couple whose rebuilding goes smoothly, relatively speaking, So why stuff happened or didn't happen may help my fears and/or give some input about what to avoid or do that we haven't done.

But like I say, that's years down the road, as i say, because no sense in publishing anything on that in the near future until I've put some successful years between this event and the book. The other is just one more reason.
