Infidelity Support Group
Any relationship in which one partner engages willfully in sexual relations with another outside of the partnership is considered to have experienced infidelity. This breach of trust is often traumatizing for the faithful partner as well as the relationship, and support is often needed to heal emotionally and to decide whether or not the relationship should continue after...
I just need to get started on the paperwork. Ugh, this is SO hard but I believe it's necessary. Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts. I know there are more tough times ahead, but I hope this is a step towards a brighter future.
Thanks so much for the kind words and support everyone. :) I really appreciate it.
Hugz
Things went well there and then I met a couple of friends for lunch, when I got a call from my mom saying that my oldest brother had almost taken his own life! I raced to his house and gave him and his wife a hug. I let them know how much I loved them. A couple of my family members were already there thankfully. I never want to see that kind of situation ever again. It was terrible.
On top of all this, it was my younger brother's birthday! Things just don't seem to be getting any easier for me, even though I keep trying. :(
If she doesnt want to make it work, its jsut cant. You both have to want it and she obviously likes being free to date more than she wants to be a loyal and devoted wife. In the big picture, you will eventually see that she was probably not the peson she thought she was.
Hang in there and take care of yourself.
I have been in therapy since the discovery (actually even BEFORE I found out because I suspected something was going on and she denied it over and over again) and while it helps, it's a LONG recovery. I've been prescribed and anti-anxiety medication that helps but it doesn't erase the memory of that awful day and the subsequent emails, texts and other love notes that I found in the days after. If your anxiety is that bad, I suggest talking to your doctor about going on something like Zoloft to ease the anxiety.
There were times I was completely suicidal. I would fall asleep thinking about how I would do it and how it would make her feel. After discussing this with my psychiatrist, she had some good advice. She said you have two choices. Start over. Start over WITH her or start over WITHOUT her. Either way, it's a new beginning. But you have to make a decision...and while it's hard, you have to do what's best for you.
I find that there aren't a lot of betrayed husbands out there, or maybe there are and they just aren't talking about it. I'm here to talk and help you in any way I can. I know what you are going through so please don't hesitate.
Thanks for all of your help everyone. I will still be on this bumpy, rough road for a while, so don't forget about me, ok?
Even though the divorce is final, you are still going to have negative feelings about the infidelity. The problems it causes inside of you don't magically go away because the judge has signed the final order.
The adultery and all the behaviors surrounding it are life-changing. It took me many months past the divorce before I could really function again.
Stay on here as you need to, getting advice and offering advice.
Take care.
I give you credit for your wise decision.
Keep up the good work my friend.
One piece of experience: just leave her alone and concentrate on what you want to do with your life, with or without her.
Don't forget to keep up the good work on yourself.
