Sometimes we must live with regrets. Especially when we are the perpetrators of the pain to others. I would love to say; "I like to think that I have made no true mistakes because everything has taught me something." I cannot. I have made some VERY huge mistakes from which it appears I learned nothing. And that is a regret I will forever live with. Perhaps BlueKnight is right. "I didn't learn the first time, then it needed to happen again." Unfortunately the person who means the most to me had to be devastated so I could learn a lesson I should NOT have needed to learn!
Really no point in wishing one had never married since one can't change the past. It's like wishing my husband had never cheated - it doesn't change what is, nor what may be. All we can do is move forward. We chose to move forward together, but even apart it's still moving forward, not erasing what was.
