I was just curious if either if you all are planing to do PGD?

I am not sure, I have heard about it, but have not talked in length about it with my doctor. What are you thoughts?Peytons?

Well we are still getting all the information on it and the cost and I don't think we have to decide till we know how many embryos we get but my husband and I are interested in doing it because we have had recurrent miscarriages and would like to take out as many variables that we can that will increase the chances that we will end up with healthy embryo(s) come transfer time giving us a higher chance of a successful pregnancy and healthy baby. I just really don't think I could handle another loss but a lot of it will be on the cost and if it's an up front cost or if it's billed.

Peytons: It sounds like a good idea and something to think about, hoping that it is not too expensive!
Fsufrad: I just read through your medication and found that I am taking the same ones, starting next week! I am getting nervous about the pain!

I will also be on the same meds as you two and start next week as well. I have heard that they can really burn/ hurt going in and that injecting super super slow helps. I am nervous about the shots to I hate needles but I am more worried how my body will respond. Hoping for a good response with good healthy quality eggs.

Ahh Im soo nervous! Also about how I will react emotionally, I have heard they can make you nasty :/ looking at the medicine is overwhelming too, I had to clear a whole shelf out in my bathroom for all of it! Anyway, I get my period in two days and was instructed to go to the dr to learn how to administer the shots and get a baseline. Its getting closer and closer and Im starting to get anxious, idk how im gonna wait out the 2ww period! BUT am thankful to have you ladies! Has anyone experienced emotional changed with the shots?

Starting my shots tomorrow, looks like I will be starting with Menopur and Follistim and ER is going to be scheduled between 1/31 - 2/7.

I will be super close to you! Have my baseline appt tomorrow and my ER should be the first week of February as well. Are you doing a freeze all or fresh transfer?

The will be a fresh transfer...I did authorize to freeze as well. I will be starting the medicine tonight eek! Going through the instructions for the medicine was nerve racking! We will see what happens. Peytons: Is yours fresh or freeze>?

We will be doing a freeze all so our ER will be the first week of Feb and our transfer won't be till March.

Did you decide how many you want/will transfer?

ok so when you do a freeze all what does that consist of? Do you still have to have an ER? I haven't decided, I mean I haven't really seen the doc since my surgery in October and I guess I will talk to him about it at the ER. Now I am just basically dealing with nurses. The had sad one and be and hubby are thinking one, but I wouldn't mind two. I just am undecided and don't know what to do. I guess I better make a decision. What do you think?

Ok so a freeze all will go the same as a fresh the stims and ER will be the same but instead of doing the first embryo transfer shortly after the ER and freezing the ones that are left with a freeze all they will freeze all the embryos and the first transfer is done the following month. They do this to give your body a break after all stims and the ER and that month between they focus on getting the uterus happy and ready for pregnancy. Frozen embryo transfers have a higher success rate then fresh. We were told at our ivf class that some dr.'s like to try fresh and then go from there and even some insurances require a fresh transfer. We didn't choose to go this route because of any of that it's just always been the plan my dr. really feels that taking that time to focus on the uterus helps.

As far as how many to transfer my dr. said she is comfortable with one or two. We haven't decided yet and won't till we know how many embryos we have. But we are torn on the topic to, part of us would be ecstatic to have twins I am just so nervous after four losses.
Do you feel yourself leaning towards one or two or not necessarily?

OK, I get it now. That info helps because I am having some frozen if possible and in the future if I want to use them, I will have a little more information about it. This is my first cycle, I had issues with my tubes and had to have one surgically removed, so I am hoping that everything will work out ya know bypassing the tubes.

I am still not sure about the # of transfers. Its strange because every doctor has a different point of view. My husband and I would not mind twins, ( they also run in his family). In the beginning we were all for it and would also be super excited for twins, but after discussing it more, he thinks that we should listen to the doctor, so we will probably be choosing one, well that is what I have been leaning towards lately, just because of the risks etc.

I am sorry for your loses, how many times have you tried ivf. What is the reason for the IF. Like I said before, I have a tubical issue, not diagnosed, and my hubby also had abnormal, low, and slow sperm. So he froze some and has been taking supplements before the ET. So we will see! Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us. Let me know about the #.

We had three losses prior to seeing our RE and then we had an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube and had to have surgery as well but the they were able to save my tube and while they were doing the surgery she fixed the bit of endometriosis that I never knew I had so in a way the surgery was a good thing. My husband also has a low sperm count.
I am hopeful that bypassing the tubes that it will help to keep another EP from occurring. This is our first ivf cycle as well. I did two IUI cycles the first was a fail and the second was my EP.
