Incest Survivors Support Group
Incest refers to any sexual activity between closely related persons that is illegal or socially taboo. Consensual adult incest is very rare. Incest between adults and prepubescent or adolescent children is a form of child sexual abuse that has been shown to be one of the most extreme forms of childhood trauma. Ashamed but.. does anyone have this experience?
Hello, I have a question. Does anyone else get aroused while thinking about the abuse? I have lived with such shame for a long time. My father groomed me and was sexual wish me from age 3 or 4 until 15. I don't remember most of it or much of my childhood. But I do remember times as a young teen, when he would hold hands in public when he would take me out of town... he also molested my sister...
My question is.. does anyone else sometimes get aroused thinking about the abuse. I know I didn't ask for this to happen to me. .. I have felt broken my entire life because of the incest... especially because my body responded... as in parts of me enjoyed it... and sometimes while masterbating I think about it.. then I feel so ashamed. My therapist says that my mind had turned something traumatic into something else as a coping strategy. I used to have nightmares and used to disassociate.. but haven't had either in a long time.. which is why my therapist thinks that I have learned to cope with what happened to me by making what happened into something sexual. He also says that I'm not a bad person for this reaction..
Can anyone relate?

You are not alone with these thoughts, feelings..
you're not the first one to ask that question, and sadly, you won't be the last..
I think most of us who have survived sexual abuse hates our bodies when they respond to such negative things...
and I the ones who haven't been hurt that way ( or the abuser" will say "you must of enjoyed it, see, your body is responding, it only does that if you liked it"... that way they can justify in their mind that it's ok to hurt others....
So sorry your going through this... but we are here for you, and you can post any question you have...we are here to help!

I am doing EMDR right now, which is helping me.. but also is uncovering all this stuff I've buried.
It's incredible to feel like I'm not alone.
Yes, I have responded with arousal. sex used to trigger me badly and I think my brain just started to figure out a way for my body to participate in sex. so sometimes it flips the switch, so to speak, so that I don't completely shut down and turn off.
unfortunately, i think our sex drive has a survival instinct too. and sometimes its instinct leads to our guilt .
at least that's what I've come to understand over the years.
abuse is my main source of masturbation fantasy and i think about it while having sex. it was a huge part of my life for so long and shaped my life and sexuality in so many ways there is no ignoring it.
Yes.
Images of abusers pop into my head when I am intimate with people.
Pretty much a mood breaker. And something that makes me angry.
I am not sure if I can stay in this group, but wanted to say that yes, you are not alone
