Erectile dysfunction or impotence is a sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis for satisfactory sexual intercourse regardless of the capability of ejaculation. There are various underlying causes, such as diabetes, many of which are medically reversible. The causes may be physiological or psychological.

I am 61 years old. I was married for 18 years and our sex life slowly disappeared. Part of the problem was my wife suffered from severe depression (she spent most of her life in bed hiding under the covers) and totally neglected me, the kids, and every thing. I ended up with depression also and was put on various different depression meds and finally we got divorced in 1992. I was single till 2006. I had no interest in sex during that time and finally decided I needed to be checked out. I went to an endocrinologist and she ran tests and found my testosterone level was very low. She put me on Androgel and it definitely helped.
My sex drive returned and I decided to try to find someone. I found a great woman about 500 miles away so we took turns commuting back and forth. I was able to have sex with her when we were together, not a lot but it was good. Over the next few years we traveled back and forth and finally got married. I was put on Blood pressure medicine and also metformin for diabetes. Our sex life came to a stop. I was unable to get an erection. We tried off and on but gradually our sex life became non-existant.
I went to a urologist and he tested me and said he couldn't find anything wrong and gave me an Rx for a penis pump, I tried it but never could get it to work. My Internal Medicine doctor gave me an Rx for Cialis, Levitra, and finally Viagra, none of which worked.
My wife says it doesn't bother her, but I know it does, heck it bothers the heck out of me. I found that I can occasionally get an erection, if I lay on my back and don't move, but it doesn't last long enough to do anything. I can masturbate and ejaculate but I never get hard.
My wife has suggestion using a strap on, but when we tried it, it didn't work well. I have tried oral sex on my wife, but unfortunately she has trouble having orgasms and the only way she can orgasm is if she masturbates herself, even then it takes a long long time for her to get there. I am at wits end. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestion??

Yeah I checked your site... looks good... Not sure my insurance would pay for another so soon, so will keep trying the one I have...It took almost all day yesterday but I finally got it to get a good seal and I kept it up for about 10 minutes and it looked like it might have done something... I wasn't hard, but had a soft erection for a little while before it went away.

Does any one know of a good cheap (well cheaper) source of the Osbon vacuum pump bands? I have tried the tiniest ones that came with my pump and they do not work. I can't get my little finger through the smallest one and the next size up is a tiny bit bigger. Using both, as long as I lay down and do not move, they sort of hold, but if I stand up, Poof!! it's gone. Not to mention it feels like the dang bands are gonna cut my equipment off and they are almost impossible to stretch big enough to get off without hurting. So hopefully the Osbon will work.

A female reply. Maybe try talking to your wife. If you have an honest open relationship and she is telling you it doesn't bother her, maybe it doesn't. There IS more to life than sex. I'm going through this exact scenario with my bf of 14 months. He has been unable to have sex for nearly 4 years now, due to diabetes. He has tried everything out there with little sucess. I keep telling him I love him for himself and that he needs to look at the fun we have doing things and going places together and believe me when I say that sex is NOT the most important thing to me. It is frustrating me that he does not seem to be capable of believeing me and it causes us a lot of stress...just something to think about from the female perspective. Sex is nice but it is NOT ALL there is to life to enjoy.

The problem is, it bothers me. Not having sex is frustrating. If I am going to just have a platonic relationship, why bother being married. I have plenty of friends to just hand out with and do things with and hang out with, and it would be a heck of a lot cheaper. Some women seem to do better going without sex than men. For most men, sex is a VERY important part of the relationship. I think that is why your BF is not content with the way things are, even though you might be.
