I am newly diagnosed. right now i'm still going through test but my dr would like me to start immunoglobuen( sp?) therapy (IV).
My IgA, IgM, and IgG are all very low. My husband works as a Clinical Lab Tenchnologist ( deals with all blood test and blood banking). from what he has learned IgA is able to go into the stomach and intestinal track where the other 2 are not. my issues are with my stomach and intestines. What we are having an issue with is that I do make some IgG and if i go this route there is high likleyhood that my IgG will fight the IgG that i will recive thru IV. So i'm wondering is it worth it? Does being allergic/ or rejection worth the risk?

I was also recently diagnosed with common variable immune dficiency. I have low IgA-61, IgG-370, IgM-34. On Webmd there is a chart for normal levels(according to them)

IgG-620-1400
IgM-45-250
I am not on any tratment yet. The allergist I was seeing told me that I am "not sick enough". I will be seeing an Immunologist Nov. 10.

I am so confused. I too have CVID and I am about to begin again on subQ IG replacement. I have low IgA, low IgG and leukopenia. I was told that IG replacement does not help low IgA. I can share that last month, when I was "testing" Vivaglobin, that my IgA levels stayed the same as they were pre-treatment. So...is IG replacement used for IgA?

And for those of you who also have CVID, you might also want to join the CVID group...?

I have Ig Subclass deficiency (similar to what you have) and I have started immune globulin therapy. I take it sub-cutaneously as this is less likely to cause an allergic or anaphalactic reaction as doing it by IV I use Hizentra (8gr)and the nurse has taught me how to infuse myself one time a week by using four small needles-takes about one hour. You can do it by IV but it takes a long time 3-4 hours and only a nurse can do this and the risks for reactions are much much higher. This is my fourth week and I have had no trouble or reactions from any of these infusions.

My doctor said that I basically do not have any Ig's. All 4 of my classes are almost zero and he is baffeled.

If you have no IgG and your doc is baffled . .have you considered finding a new doc?

I am IGA deficient and do Human IGIV therapy every four weeks and am given benadryl and tylenol prior to my infusions. I have been doing treatments for about 5 months now. I can tell you that everyone's response to the therapy is different. My mom and I both have to have treatments. I have had progressively worse side effects since I started doing treatments. Nausea, vomiting, headaches, joint pain, chills, heat flashes and on top of that I am still getting sick and having to take antibiotics. I'm just not on antibiotics quite as often. My mom experienced similar issues but has been doing treatments for a year and acould half now. In regards to infections my mother rarely has to take antibiotics anymore. The other side affects have gotten somewhat better for her but she still has them. I am finding myself the increasingly frustrated with the side effects and am beginning to wonder if they are worth it. Has anyone else experienced this with their treatments?

IgA can not be treated with IVIG treatment... IVIG treatment is for low IgG. A lot of docs treat this disorder wrong. I have been treated with both iv and subq. both can be done at your home depending on pharmacy. Coram pharmacy has rn's that will come out and do both. currently i am treated weekly w/ hizentra sub-q.
all the meds are very exspensive and depending on your insursurance they may have a formula you have to follow. the best way is to inform yourself .. good luck :)
