I have had High Blood Pressure for 5 years. Thought I was doing ok. Last night I got a couple of very high readings. I have been walking 2-4 miles 3 or 4 times a week for the last month. *BP was creeping up on me this summer. But not too bad.
I am terrified. Just terrified. Why does this happen to me? Why can't I just take my meds and be ok???
I am on 5 mg of Lisinopril. Tried Beta Blockers in the past, but became very unsteady on my feet.
Also, Does anyone else have trouble in the heat? When it gets about 80 degrees, I just feel terrible.
I just want to be able to get up, go to work, and take care of m y family.
I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Personally I think the advice is dangerous and potentially fatal.
I see you have been posting links to that site on many boards.
Interestingly, a few years ago, unless your BP was more than 140/90, meds weren't considered. Now, it's 120/80. They're thinking of lowering it to 115/75. Part of that is motivated by profit.
But this new doctor is suggesting I stay on the inderol and we start with a few supplements - quite a bit of fish oil, CoQ10, D3, Magnesium, Primrose oil. Then I'm to take epsom salt baths and meditate and drink Hibiscus tea. And I'm continuing with interval training for exercise. I'll go back in a month and we'll see if it's working.
For diet, Himalayan salt is fine, ghee, coconut oil and olive oil. Lots and lots of veggies, 4 - 8 ounces of meat and very, very limited sugars and carbs. Wish me luck!
Alternative medicine offers tons of possible solutions and I just prefer to start there. Then we can add meds if necessary but if I'm already doing a lot of good things to support good overall health, hopefully I won't need as many meds.
Reed: it is the ONLY motive.
I see my doctor next week and have a slew of questions for her. I'm supposed to drastically limit carbs which is more difficult for me than other dietary changes.
But with all of the herbs and Himalayan tea, exercise and meditation, my bp has gone from 140ish/95ish to 117/73. Hopefully it'll behave and show those numbers at the doctor's office although going out, driving through traffic and so forth may bring it up a bit. We'll see.
I think what I like about working on all of this is that I know it's also helping my overall health and will help prevent diabetes, heart disease, anxiety and a bunch of other problems.
Wishing others the best of luck in their journey. BP seems like a tough nut to crack.
