Hi I have had different reponses, a few understand and most don't.
They are not educated with the subject.

I told my boss, they understand and told me anything I need they would help.

It is a form of chemo so sometimes I say that. (Short and sweet)
Or another one I say is I have liver disease. I feel I don't have the time for the added stress because people dono about it.

This one girl at work treats me like I'm walking vault of poison and steers way clear of me. She has a bad case of I don't know anything.

I just concentrate on getting better. HUGS:) Crab

I work in an office with 12 people and I told them all. It went just fine and I'm glad I told them because there was no way I could hide it. Treatment affected my looks and my overall physical and mental ability.

I made sure that I told them at times when I had time to explain things to them and answer any questions they had.

Telling is not for everyone but it worked for me.

i let the girls work for me know. I explained everything to them. One used to be a nurse so she knows about it..........they have been very supportive. It helps when your the boos............:)

I wouldn't say exactly what it is, just say you are undergoing an extensive treatment for a liver problem and then if they need to know then tell them. but i think it is best they know something is going on or they will mistake it for laziness or slacking off and that's definitely not the case. I remember my first shot, the nurse said the #1 side effect will be lethargy. she was right

I think only you can decide who you feel comfortable telling what based on your relationships. If you start to miss work you will need to let your immediate supervisor know what's up.

I was very lucky. I have worked closely with the same group for 16 years and we have all shared many of each others life trials and challenges. They have been so there for me.

I also wanted to warn them about potential riba rage. They just laughed and asked if it would be better or worse than when I went through the "change". Everyone's a comedian.

I think crabs answer is the best for larger groups, it is a form of chemo, and you can say you have liver disease and leave it at that. You could say it is swine flu, then sneeze and cough,,, just kidding...

I think it is a really tough thing to do. I know that people are uneducated and makes lots of assumptions that are not correct. You will be yourself again. I just want you to find the support you need and kick this thing out into the universe where it can no longer hurt you. I hope you find some solace here. Yes, you might have to tell them what is up, but my sister was so worried though she can not at this point work, but she told them anyway and they gave her much needed support. I hope your work is trustworthy and you can just let them know and be safe. my prayers are with you, hugs

I would just say you have a liver disease and need to see a liver specialist on a regular basis, thats what I say.

One time this lady asked me "what type of liver disease? and I said "A complicated one" lol I wasn't lying, its true.

And I agree with the others, just saw your on chemo for it, that'll get the point across most people don't understand when you just say "treatment"

We've been using the "chemo" excuse too. But I am a bit taken back by how many people then go on to press the issue. My usual response is "He is taking chemo for his liver".....and then they want to know details!!!!! I guess I was raised to be a litte more respective of peoples privacy. Geesh

I agree sock, some people are so nosy!

People avoid me more at work because of my faith and political moderation than because I have Hep C problems.

I just tell people I'm underoing Chemo Treatment. They usually get all sad looking and say, What for? Then I tell them that my liver loves me but the virus inside it doesn't.

Before I started, I told a few key people: like the ones who are gonna cover my back if needed. I found what I needed in a support group,
this is the only online one for me.
Its been a little over a month, and a few have asked whats wrong? you sick? then they go on with out a reply, what ever.
Just hang in there, and if you are able to leave early do.
Get rest, drink water.
