uhm no that is not what it is saying. It is saying to not take more than 2,000 mg a day. It's pretty clear to me. Read it again Dilly and in the end make your own decisions :).

Dilly read down to
"Many HCV providers now recommend that their patients
with HCV or other forms of liver disease take a somewhat
lower dose than is generally recommended for people with
healthy livers."

Tylenol is the only pain reliever I will take, and I take it sparingly.

Has there been a recall lately, on T? I was at two stores over the weekend, and couldn't find my extended time release T or any T, except for TPM.

my dr said stay away,,so thats what i choose..i take ibuprofen once in awhile as needed....we should be very cautious of what we send through our livers.....ingest.......it's my personal choice....have a good day mo........

Yes your choice most definitley Dilly but be aware that Ibuprofen is an NSAID and promotes liver fibrosis. So are Aspirin, Motrin, Aleve ..all anti inflammatory drugs.
Be informed and make your own choices.

i'll bet i don't take over 800mg a month and thats 2times a month for occasional headache..life it self is my pain,,no pill for that..lol

I'd say you're okay then re: pain pills anyways ..lol

Thanks Mo. I did read all the way to the end and unfortunately I'm at stage four cirrhosis and the part that said "People with fibrosis or cirrhosis should avoid acetaminophen" must include me. Very good info though, thanks for posting. You are such a wealth of info.

I know it's confusing with all the info out there but as far as I know Tylenol is okay for cirrhosis too with caution.

Couldn't help but think as I was reading this article about all those law suits on tv about prescription drugs causing heart disease, broken bones, strokes, and I was thinking what would happen if all the liver disease patients realized how much tylenol has played a key role in their liver failure and got together; but then most liver patients seem to be so weak and fatigued from either the treatment or the disease that we seem incapable of raising public concern for whatever reason.....could be fear of rejection, shame, lack of information. Anyhow, we are one BIG bunch of people that are dealing with this illness; but we sure are a bunch of quiet people.

uhm violett I posteed these links because so many on DS seem confused about what otc pain meds to use.
My intent here was to let readers educate themselves that Tylenol is safe to use as long as you do not overdose your system, flood your liver with more medication than it can process. That leads to big trouble.
It's like this. You need to drive your car and do but you stay in the safe speed limit. If you exceed that limit then you are putting yourself in harms way.
It is your choice as to whether or not you use pain medications but be informed on what is safe and what is not.

I appreciate you posting the article, and appreciate your voice of reason...many on here seem to respect your opinions.
Mine may sound like they are different from yours, but isn't that what sites like this are for? Actually, I think we are in agreement on this. You just seem to have accepted things more than I have; but those are my own demons. I tend to want the world to play by the rules, believed it did for the most part, and then got hit in the head with reality. I just don't want to go down without a fight, and since this seems to be the card I picked, and since it seems like millions of other people have the same card, I thought maybe there are others who want to 'fix what can be fixed' - especially in the medical industry; Is it ever going to happen? Probably not, but it is one of the last hopes I have...
