Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
It's been a long time we haven't had a roll call in order to get to know each other more.
So here it is,
I'm Mckenzie
been here for almost 2 years now.
Both my husband and I were type 1a.
We both did 48 weeks of peg/riba, interferon/riba.
Have been cured of the virus now, for over 4.5 years.
My hubby for over 6.5 years now.
Your wondering why I'm here, well I always devoted my time to help my friends with hep c, since being too sick to be on the road, like some to support the cause, I do this, volunteer as an advocate for Hepatitis c on different Web sites.
Since being taken off work due to my health, I have been able to spend more time here and there to pursue what I love doing best.
I have 2 wonderful children, and one grandson whom I adore.
I live in Canada.

I'm Camille and I'm 55 years old, living in the Boston area. Single, self-employed advertising copywriter. I have hep c 1a, diagnosed in April of this year. Stage 2. No idea where I got it. I am otherwise very healthy. I will be starting treatment soon after a meeting with one more specialist this week.
I'm very happy to have found this site and all of the good people here.
charles was geno 3, dx 5 yrs ago, did 24 wks of tx, finished up 3 wks ago and was undetectable at wk 4. has 90% chance of svr. found this site in feb and been here since...it has carried me thru husb's tx w/all the support and info...we have 3 young kids and charles was laid off last sept...so will begin looking for work this wk. tx kicked his hiney but was worth the sacrifice. he feels about 50 - 75% at 3 1/2 wks post tx. so glad to be here...
Diagnosed in Jan 2008, I believe I got it from my ex of 13 yrs. He was a IV drug user, he is now clean and sober after we divorced 2 1/2 yrs ago. My ex found out a yr ago but didn't tell me.
I am Genotype 1A, going the 48 week tx. I started two weeks ago. Riba at 800 mg & Pegintron at 80 mcg/0.5. So far the sides have been okay.

I live in the ST Louis metro area, have 2 sons,and will be 36 in October. After making massive lifestyle changes over the last couple of years,I intend to start treatment as soon after my July 17th appointment as possible. I very recently joined this site as part of my "success plan" for coping with treatment (I've also lined myself up with a decent psychiatrist, had a full physical and well woman check up, got all required dental procedures done in advance...the only thing I forgot to do/didn't think of was take care of my hep A and hep B vaccinations so I guess I'll go by whatever my doc says to do on that).

I have 4 children, 30 yr old, twins that are 28 and my baby is now 16. I have 5 wonderful grandchildren and another one on his way anyday now.

Hep C, Geno 1A, Viral Load 950,000, Found out this past April. I am going to have my biopsy
in the beginning of Sept. when I have weight loss surgery done . So here I am , I follow up with my GI in October for biopsy results. I am happily married and have many friends and lots of family. I am really glad to have found you all.
