Yep, Triss, we have to stay mentally sharp enough to handle our medical care "transactions" or they just don't get done. Pathetic. What will happen when we lose our marbles? We'll be wandering around our homes lost in space with no meds for what ails us. Dreadful.

OMG. Nurse just called me back and said she got it all straightened out -- spoke to Aetna's lead pharmacy representative and stressed to them that there absolutely cannot be a lapse in treatment, and they must ship the refills in the next 24-36 hours overnight. The representative has all the information in the system now (duh), will be shipping, and they will be calling me for payment information. I told my nurse that I am making her a pan of brownies! She took care of all this in less than 45 minutes! Now I just have to stay on them if they don't call me by tomorrow noon. And I will! Whew... gonna take that Xanax now. Nurse said I could take two if I needed to.

Dear God, PLEASE don't let the copays increase...

I have 8 "servings" left. Tomorrow is the end of week #3!!!! Single digit dance! 9 weeks to go.

Yes, definitely have that cushion. Just make sure doc has your adjusted start date.

When I let my doc know - as MUCH as I wanted to start when I had the meds but I knew I had to tell him - when I let him know about the bronchitis and tooth problem, he pushed the tx back two weeks plus - and his nurse told me DO NOT let the specialty pharma know; just keep ordering them as if you started on Jan 31... she said if I in any way skewed the schedule the pharma was on, it could create an issue with insurance. So they never knew and thank GOD I've got my last two unopened bottles of Sova/Oly right here.

So anyone who's reading this thread, it's got some real good ideas as far as maybe waiting just a week or so to start your meds after getting the first batch, letting your doc know that you want to push back the start date so THIS nightmare that happened to beachy does not happen to you (and no doubt others right now because insurance is all in a dither about approving Sovaldi).

I am so thrilled this appears to be resolved. I was going to suggest that you go beyond the supervisor & get the name of the CEO. Go straight to the top but deal with the supervisor as well. The stress of this brought on your shingles no doubt. How sweet is that!!! This same thing (except the shingles part) happened to me when I was on triple & the Pegasys, riba & Incivek came on the exact day I was due for my shot & dose! It took all the strength & energy I had to deal with it. I called & sent emails & my nurse was on top of it for several hours. The doctor told me he would help me if I decided to file suit for tx interruption because that is how important it is to not have tx interruptions. Unheard of for a Dr. to tell a patient they will help in a lawsuit against big pharma. My drugs arrived but no one should go through this crap. Seriously, let us know you got 'em so we can all breath a sigh of relief. Hugs!

That is unbelievable, hopefully some competant person can get it going fast for you! sheesh , I'd be freaking out too.

Thank God (or ArchAngel Raphael or...) that this is resolved. There is sooooooooo much money to be made from these meds that all the players are cut-throating each other to get a bigger chunk of the pie - that's what it seems like anyway. Peace - you're good.

Hey Beachy, I had the same problem when I was treating. I went to pick up my meds adn they said the insurance refused payment. and wanted the $3500 to give me the meds. They were also going to be returning it because it doesn't stay "useable" for long (god I wished they threw it out, I would have dumpster dived it!) I missed 4 days of treatment because the program wouldn't let me get a week in advance. The reason was because the nurse at the Hep clinic forgot to send in my bloodwork. Needless to say I called every half hour everywhere for everyday I missed. You have to stay on them. They don't care about us, it's just a job to them, it's a life to us. I wish I had been told about the week cushion before I started treatment! Glad you got resolved!

Oh Lord nothing surprises me anymore. I know the insurance co's are freaking out about the cost of the meds. Mine has been in touch with me and they're trying to get me off their plan and also up my premium to 700+ a month. Thank goodness I am almost done and have rec'd all of the meds. Beachy I am glad you got this resolved. I think our generation (baby boomers) is going to have to fight tooth and nail for whatever services we get as we age and if you're not up to the fight - well, good luck finding help !

Thanks all! I hope my experience helps someone else! I called the pharmacy today and and "encouraged them" to get those meds shipped out asap. I reiterated how important it was to not have a lapse in treatment, and I was PROMISED I would get a call by this afternoon to confirm my order had ben processed and was ready, and make the copay and they they would flag my order as urgent and extremely high priority. So... we will see. They'll not be able to escape my hounding them otherwise. :-/

Always fighting some battle...

Good God Almighty!! Second freak out. The pharmacy called me and set up delivery then proceeded to tell me the copay was 4 times the amount of last shipment!! Said they did not have any Sovaldi $5 copay info on hand and Gilead said they had no record. On the phone for over an hour and a half... BUT, all straightened out, still paying $113 rather than $400 something, and meds coming tomorrow by 8 am.

WHEW!!!!!! I sure wish it was 5 oclock somewhere and I was allowed have a dang beer!! And I don't even like beer all that much...

Yeah, doc says keep my stress level down so I can't fight the bugs. No chance of that.

Got my last shipment yesterday. Waiting on meds is the worst part wondering if there going to be there on time there's the stress. Good for you. I waited 3 weeks to start while the ins co decided which pharmacy too use. I'd kill for a cold brew mmmmm. Peace
