Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I am suggesting those with HCV that binge or imbibe on a regular basis should seek out some intervention before it's too late. It's too late for me. I have walked the walk, made the mistake of denial and have arrived at cirrhosis. I can't turn back the clock.
I provided eyore with kind support earlier in this thread and have now provided a tool for all to "get real" before they are shut out of any chances of recovery for their livers.
Drinking with HCV is sticking one's head in the sand. Yes we are all adults and if you choose to be reckless know you will pay the consequences.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
Who is shoving programs down peoples throats?
I see nothing infering or refering to AA.
Being a good listener is wonderful.
On a public forum where responses are not only needed but expected by the poster; we must and in a sub conscious way ( whether or not one wishes to believe it) accept one is seeking help.
My interpretation of help and others interpretation are apparantly two completely different things.
Does that make my interpretation wrong, when I AM being honest and helpful to a person who sadly is in trouble?
The soft enabling compassion is lovely to a soul who can take "oh you poor thing, we have no choice, I understand" and run w it.
yet strong, firm, honest loving and compassionate words from one who has been in the sheet is called shoving down throats. It's horsesheet and it's enough.
Go check out the chirrosis site as suggested and then tell me why in the world did you do or consider any treatment?
To drink again, go through insanity to drink?
Holy Jesus, what the heck is going on.
Yea, I would enjoy to do shots and "live a little". Do what I want and frck the world, it's my life. Don't tell me what to do, frck off, IMHO.
In reality, tho.....To drink with a compromised liver in any stage, is to die, self mutilate..... With a healthy liver, that first one drink ever drank begins killing off liver cells.
Self mutilation is hatred of oneself, and underlying issues not confronted or dealt with. It is something that can be helped.
Drinking, overeating, drug abuse, lying, compulsive gambling, eating disorders, cleptonania...... They are all manias.........
Anyone with HCV no longer has the right to abuse themselves and be coddled.....and enabled. Go Starcraft...
When we abuse ourselves, and the reason IS NOT about our livers y'all.....
IT'S ABOUT OUR DAMN INFECTED BLOOD......
Wake up!!!
WE ARE CONTAGEOUS to others.......
When we are Undie, we ought to be thankful as the day is long, and always remember it may not last.... So believe it will and take care of yourself like a previous jewel or a treasured Mercedes...
If anyone believes I am shoving this down your throats, may I suggest reading it again in a sweet tone with kind inflection.
My fingers are not red from banginging in frustration judgement or anger.
The are filled with hope and fairh that maybe, just maybe; one person will get it.
If one had the big C, and abused themself, that would be a frck it, I don't give a sheet, too.
Cancer and HCV to the body are the same train, except HCV takes a longer and slower route to the same stations, kinda like the local GG train in Queens, NY which is where I lived for most of my life.
And the Express E or F trains.....
Same stops, one ride just takes longer to end.
The seriousness of the HCV epidemic is just truly coming to light. Know you were, have been, are and may continue to be a part of it.... As a tx'er, an undie, a relapser, a null responder, a debator on tx, a holistic tx'er, and those yet undiagnosed.
This is no joke. We all have a responsibilty to every other human in the world on this one regarding HCV / protection /infection/ tx; just as in HIV/AIDS.
22% of the total population ( that's between 1/5-1/4)
In Egypt are infected with HCV...22%...that's one country alone.....!
Btw protease inhibitors for HCV ( triple tx) were discovered by the inhibitors discovered and used in HIV/AIDS tx.....
The new drugs are being created with that in mind as well.
Food, I meant tx for thought.
I do write in Peace, sending love and healthy wishes to all...
May everyone in the entire world be HCV free...
I guess in my mind, if you come here bombed, with your hand extended, it's my que to help you up, not say it's okay and agree to have a glass with you to comiserate your fall. Is that helping a friend?
I don't have any problem with people choosing to drink, it's your life to do with as you please. What gets me is the people who come in here basically singing " Oops! I did it Again!" and then expect not to hear what they KNOW is coming from the people who want to help.
Doesn't make any sense, to me anyway.
Louie and Joe, bless you for wanting to pass along your personal experience to try and help. You're a good guys!
I don't agree with just shrugging it off though, rather help them to help themselves.
Big huggs and stuff :-)
It's a long crappy road to liver failure and the potential of transplant.
That is why I suggest they go read the Cirrhosis discussions. It ain't no picnic and fatigue and treatment sides are the least of worries over there.
Not to many "Undie Dances" going on.
Sorry for my dark posting but really people it's time to wake up about HCV and alcohol.
Okay I leave off this discussion. Not much more for me to say.
Don't be stupid.
We love ya!
