I think I have just had some bad experiences and am pissy right now (about an unrelated life situation). I will just say I have not personally experienced wielding this "power" that I supposedly have. Not with men. Not ones I was involved with. Perhaps I have it now with my current partner but she is a female, so that is a mute point. I guess I have been drawn to "bad boys" and they were very controlling and exerted a lot of POWER. But okay I know not all men are like that.
So ... end result of all this babbling ... perhaps it depends on the woman in question and the man in question who has the power?

The point I was making was look at the animal kingdom, male birds have a matting dance,if the female does not like it, the male will have to wait untill next matting season. Wild male horses have been known to kill each other before even getting the right to mate with a female...
Oh and the spyders, heck the black widow will EAT her mate after she has had her ways with him...
But yes, everything depends of who, when, why, where AND why not...

I think part of it relates to an area. If you go to a college and the girls outnumber the guys 5 to 1, then the guys have the upperhand. If it's the other way around, then it's the women.
Same is true for a town or region of a city.... or for that matter a church or group.

I too disagree with it being so easy for women, that "all she has to do is show up." I think most men do have standards, likes and dislikes etc. And there is the whole societal standards deal of being thin yet with big boobs, being young, dressing a certain way, having features that are considered beautiful by society's standards, etc. that men are not necessarily held to.

Sapphire I agree a man is stronger and if he wants sex he can take it. That is the only way a guy is certain to get laid if that is what he is after. What I was referring to was the non-rape situation. If a woman goes to a club or bar, or pretty much any place there are men, she is the one who has the say about whether she will let one of the guys date her, hook up with her, or "just be friends".

The guys have no say in the matter. They can say all the witty pick up lines they want, and bring her all the gifts they can, but in the end it is the woman who says, "I will take you" or "Go away before I mace you."

A guy is at the mercy of a woman when it comes to getting a mate, having a one night stand or not getting anywhere at all with a woman.

And if a woman wants to get laid all she has to do is be available and she will have plenty of guys to choose from. For a guy, the odds are against him and the chances of him going home alone is close to 99.99%. This even goes for women who are not so pretty. I have seen some very looks challenged women, take a guy home at the end of the night.

LOL Saphhire if all a guy wants is to get laid, his standards are mighty low, his standard for a woman is, "Is she still breathing?". For a mate, he might be a little pickier but he will still go out with a woman who is willing to date him even if she is nothing like his dream woman. I have had friends who have done this and for a couple of my girlfriends I dated them because they finally decided to say yes to dating (word to the wise, a woman just out of the Psyche Ward is not a good choice to date)...

Yes there are women I am attracted to, but back when I was looking for someone to date if she was breathing and had at least one tooth and didn't smell too bad, I would have dated her LOL...
